How NBA Youngboy Most Likely Generated $150M in Streaming Revenue

NBAYoungBoy just dropped TheLastSlimeto , his 23rd project since signing with Atlantic in 2017.

During this 5 year span, he very well could have generated in excess of $150M in just streaming revenue.

NBA YB has already achieved:

* 100+ RIAA Certifications
* Over 400 Master Recordings
* 23 Projects (5 of them albums)

This is all at the age of 22.

While calculating gross + net streaming revenue has many variables, we can operate off publicly available stats + informed a*sumptions for both audio + video to see how much $$$ has been made.

NBA Youngboy has amassed:

* 27.7Billion Streams across audio + video (according to Luminate)

* 19.6Billion Audio Streams
* 10,480,000,000 Apple
* 5,143,000,000 Spotify
* 3,977,000,000 Other

* 8.1Billion Video Streams basically all from Youtube

Audio:

10,480,000,000 Apple Audio Streams x $.01 (the average payout that Apple has shared per stream) = $104,800,000

5,143,000,000 Spotify Audio Streams x $.003 (a conservative payout that has been reported about Spotify per stream) = $15,429,000

Video:

8,100,000,000 Youtube views x $.00164 = $13,284,000

$104,800,000 Apple
$15,429,000 Spotify
$13,284,000 Youtube

$133.5M Total

and this doesn't even include the 4BN other audio streams that were not included in this calculation which could easily be > $17M in generated revenue.

Yes, there are variables that could change these #'s (Spotify paid vs free streams / he has more YT views) and so forth but directionally speaking...

NBA YB is printing $$$ for Atlantic Records and it very well could be more than $150M just from streaming in the past 5 years.

The most he'd probably get is a 20% royalty but most likely more in the 16% - 18% range, which if true would have him seeing $24M (16%) - $30M (20%)

Mind you, this has nothing to do with any revenue from touring, merch, publishing.

Yeah nah that's great

I know there are some artists that get fu*ked when it comes to streaming, I was hoping he at LEAST got 10% of that.

I think his music is terrible but he deserves that at least

Just playing along…..what’s your list of entities/ individuals %’s that cut into this streaming pie of yours.

Typical artist deals, particularly first contracts are going to see royalties in the percentages I listed above.

I have no idea what APG's split with him was and how it was impacted when APG sold to Atlantic

Nonetheless, Atlantic is seeing the large majority of all of that revenue.

Little to none thats how he got the masters. He didn’t make money off youtube or his last 2 projects did it for free.

Remember he was willing to do anything to get out the deal. Offered all the old masters to be let go at one point.

revenue and profit / actually money pocketed are not the same.

It’s not “per year” like that however your number of $150 million is over 5/6 years. $25-30 million “gross” per year.

It’s not as drastic as it can be painted and latched on to as factual.

If you can read, I outlined all of that.

I never wrote per year, I wrote "over 5 years."

Thread title.

Runnin with this raw number of $150 for streaming revenue then throwin out these numbers of 10%-20% for the sole performers “cut” is painting / setting up a false narrative of Atlantic “pocketing” over 70%
And at the lowest over 50%?

$2.5 - $3 million “per year” off streams is laughable

You must not know how the music business works and clearly only read the title of the thread. It's ok, I'll explain so that you can understand.

The artist is most likely see a 20% or less royalty on the streams generated. The remaining money would go to the labels involved during that time period which was APG who originally signed him and was distributed by Atlantic. Atlantic bought APG's old catalog.

Between those 2 entities (APG / Atlantic), they are most likely seeing/saw around 80% of the revenue which on $150M would be $120M.

;t=KGdjawbyFtqUgLuRA78GqQ
Why do you think APG was worth $250M when Mike Caren sold it to Atlantic? Because they were getting the large majority of the money off of NBA Youngboy's Catalog amongst other artists on their roster.

Historically he has not been a big touring artist but I think he & his team are looking to change that.

YB probably has like 10 million right now. He's one of the few artists that should do independent distribution deals

Not impressed by this kid or his antics. You'll see a thread about him getting shot one day and then you'll realize streams don't matter if you're not alive to enjoy your success. All these rappers have a death wish.
