I was born and raised in Lake Charles and the surrounding area. Lived in the country country til I was 14 then went to 3 high schools in LC. Lived there on and off for a total of about 10-12 years. I played 3 sports and hung with cats from projects to suburbs in all areas of the city when I was younger. I thought I knew just about everybody in Lake Charles round my age, so I don't know how to feel about me hearing this news for the first time on BX.

I'm not going to lie there is that weirdo culture here, but Freedia was never a legend locally. He just became one because he blew up nationally but his music never got played in the clubs beside maybe 1-2 songs. There were way other bigger artist like Freedia who go non stop play.
