The Most GENTRIFIED Cities in America

IDK why, but these cities are a blessing and a curse. On one hand they’re much safer and the people moving in are young, attractive, and wealthy. Plus it ends up being safer. On the downside, you end up seeing a lot more homeless people. Anyone live in a city that’s being heavily gentrified? Do you like it?

Minneapolis, Phoenix, DC, NYC, Austin, New Orleans, Miami, B*ston, and “Reddit-The City” are all on the list.

I didn’t watch yet but growing up in the 90-early 2000’s DC was 94% Black and the world called us Chocolate city… now it’s 45% black and 40% white and it’s our fault!!

Pro-gentrification video. He definitely made sure to show the connection to blacks and violence.

Cambridge, not Boston...Boston was always predominantly middle class, no matter how much they refused to accept it. Cambridge, was, lower middle class to poor, struggling, for so long...and then gentrification came through...now, it is a middle mecca...

Boom and bust cycles keep this real estate sh*t moving. It really ain't nothing new and it's how all of your favorite cities and favorite parts of town have developed. Something was a ghetto once and got gentrified, people got displaced. Someone has to lose for someone to win. I’ve definitely noticed the gentrification in my city. Gotta keep making bread or else you finna get priced out of your own hood at some point, sh*t even worse ya whole city!

Crazy part about gentrification and value is when it’s still hood looking, but expensive

I’ve been to Atl. I feel like it’s overhyped as a city. Most of the snow is in the north

And yet the city is considered “safe” now, is walkable and is much more livable now. I mean they had to change the basketball teams name from the “bullets” to the wizards because of the murder rate lol.

No, they did that because the owner's friend got shot and k*lled, a*sassinated actually. Abe didn't care about being called the Bullets before that.

I was taking the Metro home by myself from NW DC to PG Maryland since I was about 9 and never ran into any issues and never saw anything crazy happen (for a big city). People who don't have street sense or don't mind their business are the ones that ran into any trouble. My school was right next to the "hood" too.

It's good to buy your hood. I'll say that. Dapper Dan was talking about how he bought his spot in Harlem for; I think he said, around 64k, don't quote me, and now I believe he said it's worth about 3.5 mil. He told all his hustler friends, the pimps, and dealers to buy, and they laughed at him. They told him no one wants to live in sh*tty-ass Harlem.

Biggest issue is them pushing other people out...they can't or refuse to co exist...they can bring the gentrification culture of bike lanes, dumb a*s neon jogging suits, big dogs, and "organic" teas....but refuse to acknowledge or take part in the culture of the area that has been a staple for decades on end.

They have to push the poor out in order to move in...
