Mikey Garcia has retired.

That’s at least according to his Instagram bio, which says, “Retired World Champ 126, 130, 135, 140 lbs.”

The new description comes eight months after his majority decision loss to Sandor Martin in October 2021.

The 34-year-old was once a dominant contender in his respective divisions. He recorded wins over Robert Easter Jr and Adrien Broner – to name a few.

But his stocks seemed to drop after losing to Errol Spence Jr by unanimous decision for Spence’s IBF welterweight title.

He bounced back from the loss with a unanimous decision win against Jessie Vargas in February 2020. But then he dropped the second contest of his pro career to Martin.

But before the losses, Garcia had held multiple world championships in four weight classes.

Those titles included the lineal junior welterweight title from 2018-2020; the WBO featherweight titles in 2013; the WBO junior lightweight title from 2013 to 2014; the WBC and IBF lightweight titles from 2017 to 2019 and the IBF junior welterweight title in 2018.

Garcia, however, has not made an official announcement

Well, i still expect for Eddie to offer Mikey $20 million to comeback and f*ght Adrien Broner, who he will offer $30 million to. The f*ght will take place on DAZN, during the superbowl.

You could tell he never really loved boxing. He was a great technician in the ring and in MY opinion, didn't reach his highest potential.

Too much too soon.. jumped too many weight classes … never cleaned out a division… great skill set bad management

It's a good time to retire. Last f*ght he lost he shouldn't have lost to a f*ghter of that caliber, the Mikey that fought salido woulda won that f*ght. After the Spence f*ght he wasn't the same, good time to retire tho. He had a good run

Chisora is journeyman status at this point. People like his style and he's crazy with the promos so people come and watch

Arum was too cheap whether he had interest in the f*ght or not.

The only reason he fought Spence was for money.

Wasted prime years because of rob arum

I think the jump up in weight hurt him more because he already looked like a guy that didn't prioritize strength and conditioning. He was doughy at 140. Then he gets rich as hell psssshhhhhhhhh no way he was ever going to put in the work to be elite again.

I think boxers should stop at 30/31 if they boxed at 20 at least. 10 good years of getting rocked in the head

I heard he made A LOT of money after he finally got TF away from Bob Arum and he did it without a Manager or Promoter so he Kept ALL of his money

You're mixing up Garcia with juanma. By the time Mikey gets big, Gamboa hype train was over. He had already been kod by crawford and that was a wrap for his career
