Binge format is fading away. Netflix fans used to complain when shows on other platforms came out week to week and now they're complaining that binge watching is bad cuz they ran through new seasons of Ozark and Stranger Things in one day.

Amazon, Apple, Hulu, etc do it right by releasing the first 2-3 episodes of the season and then going to week to week.

HBO is about to dominate again when the GOT spinoff starts.

Having someone on your site for, at minimum, 10 times over the course of 10 weeks rather than, on average, let’s say 4 times over the course of a week. It’s why Netflix flirting with going away from binging with seasons broken down into separately released parts.

I personally like talking about the show in between episodes, so I don’t fully hate the one episode a week formula

I hate binge watching shows anyway. By the time I finish it I want to watch something else and can't find anything. I'd rather stretch a good show out. Builds anticipation for the next episode

They really don't have much left besides Strangers Things and Squid Game.

Stranger Things is almost over for the season and Squid Game isn't coming until 2023.

So I dunno what else will carry Netflix. True crime docs? Will they have another surprise hit like Tiger King or Queen's Gambit?

Their movies are kinda average. An Apple+ movie already beat Netflix to a best picture Oscar.

Who knows.

Binge style is on the decline…platforms are now releasing seasons in parts ie. Ozarks, Better Call Saul, Stranger Things.

Hbo never has really released anything in full. Tokyo vice was like 2 ep a week but I thought we at world was over last season

Nah it's the opposite. Netflix should make every show they have release over weeks. They need to stop the bleeding.

It will work. Investors don't care about quality. All investors see is churn.

Somethings as simple releasing shows on a staggered schedule will k*ll a lot of churn immediately because of Social Media. Binging isn't good for Social Media.

Also, Westworld has been super sh*tty bad for the last two seasons.

The Instant gratification generation needs that quick dopamine fix all the time so it makes sense the whole weekly episode thing is getting a bad rap

I like it though. Gives me something to look forward to and talk about amongst my peers.

I think it depends on the series
the Bear on hulu played 3 episodes at once then one a day then the last 3 all at once

An established series will likely be weekly
new series will likely released all at once to get reaction for a 2nd greenlight
