If Audi /Vw was reliable like Toyota they would no doubt in my mind be the number 1 auto maker. But they have a bad reputation for bad reliability and expensive fixes. I love the minimalist styling. I have a VW and even tho they are a non expensive car , the build quality is very good and feels premium.

The Audi/VW reliability issue has been a thing with the brand since to early 2000's and late 90's.
Nothing is as reliable as a Toyota, but that's the nature of the beast. Less moving parts, underpowered, built out of cardboard and just boring to drive. Toyota is the perfect brand for non car enthusiast normies. A to B cars that don't break. Toyota and Subaru loyalists also have poor eye hand coordination, and no mechanical inclination to perform maintenance or repairs.
In a nutshell, people who don't know anything about cars buy Toyota's because they don't break, and are so simple that any hackjob shop can service them.
