Jun 22 - Stranger came into a vacant home and refuses to leave, alleging fraud.
 

 
Cruz initiated all of this by listing her home for sale a few weeks back. Cruz claimed that soon after, she received a call from her contractor letting her know that all of her locks had been changed and an unidentified woman had moved in.

Cruz reported that she has received messages from viewers around the nation since this story initially aired.

Why do you think so many people connected with this tale? Chatman enquired.

Cruz cited the reason as “because they know it can happen to anyone.”

Cruz claimed she called the police as soon as she found out the woman had moved into her house. However, officials claimed that since the woman had a lease, it was a civil matter. Cruz was submitted to the eviction courts by police.

Cruz said that she had never given the woman a lease and had never even met her. The woman inside, in her opinion, is a squatter.

Actually pretty smart. Leaves the owners to deal w the mess while they move to another side of the country. My thing is there has to be paperwork. How did they get access to the house in the first place.

depending on state law ,police wont back you .You will be arrested,handed a hefty fine and possibly other stuff if whoever occupies the house press charges.It´s the craziest sh-t i´ve heard but it is what it is

i´v e read stories of new owners having to pay the occupying family to get out or helping them relocate in order to get back their house

No way this holds up. The issue is taking it to court in the first place.

The squatter just bought some time before she's removed. It's a lengthy process that these frauds take advantage of.

My coworker was renting beds in a big house he was renting (pre covid). Like 150 a night. The hustle was good until this one client came in, claimed a room for herself and changed the lock on "her" door. It took them 4 months to legally move her out.
