A shocker. Ray Liotta, the terrific actor whose career breakout came in the Martin Scorsese crime classic Goodfellas, has died. Deadline hears he died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting the film Dangerous Waters. We will have more details when they become available. Liotta was 67 years old and leaves behind a daughter, Karsen. He was engaged to be married to Jacy Nittolo. Liotta was on a big resurgence. Recent turns included The Many Saints of Newark, Marriage Story and No Sudden Move. He finished the Elizabeth Banks-directed Cocaine Bear and was due to star in the Working Title film The Substance opposite Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley. He also starred with Taron Egerton in the Apple TV+ series Black Bird. He had his “who’s thar?” turn in the Jonathan Demme-directed Something Wild and got a Golden Globe nomination, and then played banned Chicago superstar Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams. He then quickly followed playing gangster Henry Hill in Scorsese’s Goodfellas, opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in what was to be the defining role of his career. |

He should've been in more things. I LOVED Ray Liotta. His energy. He had that old acting style where it wasn't just like body language and facial ticks.
It was always the eyes with him. Subtle but he made you believe every role. Shades of Blue for me was a solid case to say, not only did he NEVER lose it. He was never gonna lose that talent and skill. He was never not in his prime as an actor. The man. To me. fu*king brilliant. I always wished he was in more sh*t, he deserved it. The man had a presence. Old hollywood sh*t. My mans would step on scenes. If I'm a director, imagine watching that take and saying...yeah lets do it again. Among my favorites. IF not my favorite actor. I was saying "oh sh*t Ray Liotta is in this" into his 60s. I appreciated that man. I appreciated the energy he brought to the game. I appreciated his ability as a actor. I truly wish he was in more sh*t. I do. It was great to see him in Hanna doing the damn thing. That was cool. I wish he was an actor who never aged and I could watch him act forever.
