A ton of people who hate this album listen to strictly garbage hip hop or boom bap raps. They listen to no other genres. Hard to have a conversation about MUSIC with the average rap-only fan tbh.

The biggest haters are actually stuck in the 90's n*ggas holding Kendrick to an impossible standard.

Yea I was gonna mention in the big thread it’s getting 10’s and praise all over the board.

It’s an emotional intelligence and vulnerability that Kenny is articulating well while having incredible production that you don’t see often from rappers.

The album is a decent on the first listen, but I doubt most people will be jamming this whole album on a daily basis like with his earlier music.

And what’s crazy and sad to say is that your average “white hiphop head” pays much more attention to themes, lyrics, artistry(things that Kendrick excels at) more than your average black rap listener that is pretty much just influenced by how good a song sounds when driving

The fact of the matter is that Kendrick is not really for your average person that is driven by 808’s and catchy hooks- and sadly that’s big majority of black ppl that call themselves hip hop head- y’all gonna hate this but it’s true

I certainly like it more than Damn and probably like it more than GKMC and Section 80 off the first several listens
