Honestly, you can write any IP... it's just when it's time to go further than that, it's VERY hard. If you have no backing or name, you'll have to have a hell of a concept.
I'm a Freddy nerd (have a Lego Freddy tatted on my arm) so I've always had this story written as a trilogy film. I wrote them like 12 years ago, and go back to it every year and build upon them. When my agent heard they were taking pitches, we sat down with my story and figured a series would be better... he put me in contact with 2 other writers on his roster who are similar in styles to mine, and we dissected my screenplays and created a first season, and a show bible with 5 seasons outlined.
Surprised we even got to pitch them because none of us have showrunner experience or a "name"

Damn I would be so in for that. I mean they could have done a good 2-3 seasons. Was the series going to stick to the little we know or expand on that?
