Megastar Dwayne Johnson revealed in a recent interview that he is in development on a secret video game movie project. Speaking with Men’s Journal, he mentioned that he is working on a video game adaptation involving a major, popular franchise. He was somewhat frustratingly coy about exactly the name of the project. But Johnson did seem to hint that he may be collaborating with Microsoft and Xbox. He specifically stated he was a big fan of the Madden NFL series of games, so maybe it’s some kind of football movie? Or perhaps a Gears of War movie. Given that the once and future Rock has already starred in a few video game adaptations, it is anyone’s guess.
In 2005, Dwayne Johnson starred with Karl Urban and Rosamund Pike in an adaptation of id Software’s Doom games. While the demon-hunting series was enormously popular and influential as a first person shooter, it bombed at the box office. Years later, he would give it another shot with Rampage, a movie that answered the question”what if Godzilla fought a giant ape, and also a wolf?” By that time, Johnson had become one of the biggest box office draws in the world, so that one did significantly better. These days, Johnson seems to have his pick of projects to work on. So it will be interesting to see what video game property he gives his fabled “franchise viagra” treatment to.
Of course, even if he did not have this mysterious new project forthcoming, Dwayne Johnson is easily one of the single busiest human beings on the planet. It was recently announced that back to back sequels to Netflix’s hit Red Notice action film. Johnson co-starred in Red Notice with Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot and Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds. He is also set to co-star in a future film with Captain America himself, Chris Evans, tentatively titled Red One. In addition to those, he will be starring in his own super/anti-hero DCEU film this year, Black Adam. After playing Zachary Levi’s Shazam’s arch-nemesis, it would be surprising if he did not pop up for at least some cameos in other DCEU films. After all, if Warner Bros can get Michael Keaton to do it, they can get anyone.

I think he'd be a dope Marcus from gears of war. Or he could be Kratos.
