Amazon is opening a brick-and-mortar clothing store later this year.
The store, called Amazon Style, will be in Los Angeles.
Shoppers will be able to use the Amazon app to view different sizes and colors for items of clothing.
Amazon will be opening a brick-and-mortar clothing store later this year called "Amazon Style," the company announced Thursday.

The store will be located in Los Angeles and will feature a range of brands.

"You'll find everything from the $10 basic to the designer jeans to the $400 timeless piece," managing director of Amazon Style Simoina Vasen told CNBC.

"We want to meet every budget and every price point," Vasen added.

Amazon Style will rely heavily on technology for its shopping experience according to the company's press release. The shop floor will feature "display items" which will showcase a product in just one size and color. Shoppers willbe able to use the Amazon app to see more options.

Amazon confirmed to Insider that customers who prefer to shop without phones will be able to ask a store employee for help finding the correct items.

Customers also won't have to carry items to fitting rooms. Instead, they'll scan a QR code for an item and have it added to a fitting room for them.

Once in the fitting rooms, shoppers will also be able to request different styles and sizes via a touchscreen. A store employee will drop off the requested items.

Shoppers will also be able to use Amazon's palm-scanning payment system, Amazon One, at the checkout.

This isn't Amazon's first venture into physical stores. The tech giant bought supermarket chain Whole Foods in 2017. In 2018, it opened its first cashierless Amazon Go convenience store, and it has recently begun expanding its own-brand supermarket Amazon Fresh.

Saw some of their clothes on the site a few weeks ago. Their clothes are no different than the big brands people buy. Slap a logo on there and they wouldn't look out of place.

The OP and others who've posted are focusing on dumb sh*t, that being the the style of clothing.

Instead, the focus should be on how Amazon has played an integral role in the destruction of brick-and-mortar retail, primarily mom and pop shops, and is now possibly getting into that business to create even more of a stranglehold on the retail sector and consolidate its power so eventually all things have to be bought through Amazon, whether that be on- or offline.

But yeah, let's focus on the style of clothing...

What if Amazon buys a dead mall, and in the whole mall is full of Amazon stores where each store sells different types of products: clothes, exercise equipment, food, shoes, etc.

Might need to look into Amazon FBA sometime in the future.
