Every player chases stats but not every player can accumulate this level of consistency over their careers. When you are a great player in any sport and you play for a long time then you will break records and make records. Don’t single out Lebron. Can’t say he was chasing stats when he went to like 10 finals in 12 seasons.

I didn't single out Bron, I spoke on the entire generation. What we have seen the last 10-12 years in basketball is a lot of guys pursuing stats/records with intent. It hasn't always been that way historically. In recent memory more guys have known going into games what numbers they needed for specific milestones and kept an eye on it throughout the game. Even when it comes to scoresheets on the bench that has increased over time. It used to be they only gave the head coach one after every timeout and quarter then it was for the HC and whatever a*sistant was in charge of tracking and/or halftime film clips. At some point they started printing one off for each member of the staff. Now, a few players even request them.
Previously head coaches never wanted them on the bench so players could see them and go out trying to do more but with more and more arenas adding different scoreboard trackers for fan involvement players were able to keep an eye on certain stats. A lot of this wasn't the case 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 years ago. You have to know if Russell, Logo, Wilt, Jordan, Stockton, Magic and so many others had known better they would have kept putting up numbers to make it harder to catch them but that wasn't the case. Dudes was just hoopin and trying to win.
