RIP to Andre Leon Talley

Mr. Talley had been an indomitable fixture of the fashion scene since the 1970s, when he embarked on a career that would take him to New York and Paris as a writer, editor and tastemaker for magazines including Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue and Vanity Fair.
His influence, however, extended far beyond his titles — among them creative director and editor at large for Vogue — or any single professional undertaking, which included writing a 2009 cover story for the magazine about Michelle Obama, accompanied by portraits of the first lady by photographer Annie Leibovitz. For much of his career, Mr. Talley was, as he once wrote, “the only black man among a sea of white titans of style.”

Mr. Talley was so rare, as an African American at the highest echelons of fashion, that the headline of a 1994 New Yorker magazine profile labeled him “The Only One.”

He was a big voice in the fashion world. He spoke fluent French. Its crazy to me to think about how him or Virgil ( Him more than Virgil ) where able to navigate through those environments with those elitist European Fashion snobs.

Andre Leon Talley opened the door for a lot of black people in fashion.

Imagine a black man raised in the Jim Crow south ending up being a fashion tastemaker.

A man that made no apologies for living his life.

Rip. Salute to that man.

RIP. We used to make fun of dude but it was undeniable of his fashion intelligence.

I whatched an interview earlier wit Talley , a lot of his style started when he was in college, he wore a shower curtain n people thought he was weird, just goes to show when you do you,you excel.

We are losing a lot of people these days and these are the ones we hear about. Sad stuff…

But, you also have to make sure that you are taking good care of your own mental and physical health to be honest. Because, that’s important af!
