He could have been an all timer but he chose not to put the effort in for that. I say that to say that voters can look at other areas of impact besides PPG. I honestly don't think he'll get in but I can see the argument. He plays for a more structured team when he was in his prime instead of the Jailblazers and he may have been a 20 and 9 guy for 4-5 years...then goes to Detroit and wins a ship (or 2 with Carmelo)...the talent was def there

His attitude will work against him. Then his numbers were never as great as his talent was.

He never averaged more than 19ppg or more than 8-9 boards per game.

He was never an MVP candidate. Never won an MVP, DPOY, ROY, 6th Man, etc. Off the top of my head I don’t think he ever made anything higher than All-NBA third team.

Compared to his contemporaries (Shaq, Duncan, KG, CWebb, Dirk) he just fell short statistically, and as a leader.

Even tho I feel he was the catalyst that got the Pistons over the top to get a ring, he wasn’t so overtly dominant that you could point at him and say he’s the reason they won.

All his teams were stacked with talent, and he could have arguably won rings in Portland, Detroit, and Boston. However, he was unable to be a leader in Portland, and in Detroit he hovered as a 2nd or 3rd option.

Great defender and such an offensive threat. But I find it hard to say that he’s undoubtedly a HOFamer.
