He could have been an all timer but he chose not to put the effort in for that. He was a guy that said I'll do what I need to do for my team to win and he was smart enough to recognize when/what he needed to do each game for his team to win. I hope he bounces back from covid right now. Heard he been sick for a while

I say that to say that voters can look at other areas of impact besides PPG. I honestly don't think he'll get in but I can see the argument. He plays for a more structured team when he was in his prime instead of the Jailblazers and he may have been a 20 and 9 guy for 4-5 years...then goes to Detroit and wins a ship (or 2 with Carmelo)...the talent was def there But these are all ifs and it never happened so it is what it is

manu has 4 titles, a 6 man of the year award, 2 all nba selections and won gold for argentina in 2004. I'm down for Sheed to make it, but those guys have the better stats and accolades.

With the trail blazers he could have be a precursor for the 6’10 PF/SFs who play like guards
But the “jail blazers” weren’t structured lol and Sheed never tried to take the lead away from the team, if that makes sense |

I’d like Sheed to get in but idk if he will anytime in the next 5-10 years.
His attitude will work against him. Then his numbers were never as great as his talent was. He never averaged more than 19ppg or more than 8-9 boards per game. He was never an MVP candidate. Never won an MVP, DPOY, ROY, 6th Man, etc. Off the top of my head I don’t think he ever made anything higher than All-NBA third team. Compared to his contemporaries (Shaq, Duncan, KG, CWebb, Dirk) he just fell short statistically, and as a leader. Even tho I feel he was the catalyst that got the Pistons over the top to get a ring, he wasn’t so overtly dominant that you could point at him and say he’s the reason they won. All his teams were stacked with talent, and he could have arguably won rings in Portland, Detroit, and Boston. However, he was unable to be a leader in Portland, and in Detroit he hovered as a 2nd or 3rd option. Great defender and such an offensive threat. But I find it hard to say that he’s undoubtedly a HOFamer. Last edited by SKDontPlay; 01-18-2022 at 11:40 PM.. |
