Now is probably the best time to try it...rendering huge environments quickly as your character is flying and causing damage all while maintaining a high frame rate with the use of SSDs might make it better than in the past

Superman game should not be open world the best format for such a game is basically Adventure Gaming / Interactive Drama… crossed with quick-time event action set-pieces. Something like The Walking Dead combined with God of War / Asura’s Wrath / Shadow of the Colossus.

Only question is how you gonna make enemies that are strong enough to battle with him on a consistent basis?

There will never ever be a good Superman game and that’s because Superman is boring. First reason is because supes going up against any normal enemy would be the most boring thing in the world so how do you even have stages levels any type of filler for the game would be extremely boring. Second reason would be not a lot of people fu*k with Superman unless supes was f*ghting doomsday or dr Manhattan every chance he got the game would tank. There’s a reason Batman is DCs biggest seller. This would be like if marvel made game where the beyonder is the main character sh*t would be hella boring.
