I'm joining the heard BX...reluctantly getting an iPhone

I've been an android user since the birth of Christ. I've never really liked Mac os/iOS and have always talked sh*t about the lack of customization options and features compared to an android device. But over the years I've kinda lost the desire to really get into and use this stuff like I used to. So, partly because I just want to try something new for once, and partly because my wife wants to get into the ecosystem mainly because the kids use iPads at school, we are making the switch. I ordered the 13 Pro Max. Been watching yal argue about these damn phones for years so im looking forward to experiencing the other side lol

Things I know ill miss:

-Goodbye being able to stream a game or boxing match from my browser in picture-in-picture while I have another app open and still being able to respond to texts and messages via notifications drop down simultaneously

-Goodbye Nova Launcher...ill miss being able to set swipe gestures to open apps and perform actions

-Goodbye navigation bar at the bottom...this one is gonna hurt

Things im looking forward to:

-Battery life, I hear good things. I feel like the batteries on my Samsungs have been garbage. Its never been the same since they got rid of removable batteries. Note 2 was probably my favorite phone

-Camera and camera app experience. Those who frequent this section know I fu*k with photography so as soon as I get my sh*t next week, if no one has started one, I'll create a 2022 photography thread. My s9 camera app has been sluggish for a long time so I fell of on phone photography unfortunately.

-Longevity. Interested to see how it still handles a few years down the road. I'm a*suming well.

I copped the Caudabe Sheath case based on some videos I watched. Looking for recommendations on which magsafe charger to buy, and really just recommendations in general. Apps, phone accessories, etc. You'll never catch me with airpods though im not that cool :)

Can't believe you're giving up on King Sam. Was waiting to see your photography work on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

You will be back. I’m long time Samsung Note user that got an iPhone in 2020. I got hooked on Apple products but Samsung phones are better honestly. I still am using my iPhone because of how much I invested but the reality is, Samsung phones are better

I've had my s9 since it came out. Was good at first I think, but the past year 9r so has been terrible. I do let my sh*t sit in the charger every night so I know I'm contributing. Its done me well though. I've taken this thing under water in pools to record video many times, been through water parks recording video, through the blue lagoon tour in jamaica which is river tubing and water falls/cliff jumping sh*t recording video, many many drops with no screen protection, etc. I've put this through the mud so in hindsight its understandable i guess.

You can do picture and picture and stream
From the browser now. Messages has pull down functionality not to interrupt the app completely. You can add gestures but it’s clunky.

Aint no way boy, aint no way. I got an iPhone for work and I can barely use it, how TF do you go back on a iphone!?! I feel extreme boredom just looking at the screen, I say to myself every time I pick it up, "How is this easy to use?" Needless to say, I use my Z Flip 3 & S20 FE 99.798% of the time...

Swipe from the left edge of the screen toward the right edge of the screen.

About 8 months in, so far this iPhone is solid. I don’t really use it for much else besides texting, browsing, occasional FaceTime but a full battery will get me through at least 24 hours and some change.

Some quality of life issues happen with the keyboard, especially copying and pasting magnet links for torrents and stuff but I switch to my old s9 when I need certain stuff done. I’ve noticed it also has Wi-Fi connection issues at my work and in public places sometimes where it either drops the Wi-Fi randomly or the Wi-Fi just runs like a*s… weird but I never had that issue on my galaxy s9. I got an iPhone 12 Pro too so…

This still works. Download Chrome and make it the default browser. Long Press or Press and Hold on text notifications for quick reply

The iPhone gestures aren't that bad. You might not miss it as much as you think. Android's swipe gestures and iOS gestures are almost identical.

Good grief.

And good luck. I bricked one of my old iPhones trying to jailbreak it the other day.

At least Apple signed off on Androids being FaceTime compatible now; I think at some point they're going to have it where the Galaxy and iPhone merge, lacking a better way to phrase it so everyone has the same phone or both phones will have highly similar features.

I made the switch to iPhone before the holiday -

You will also miss setting your notification sounds for EVERY app and how android handles notifications better than iOS

Never knew about the app swap gesture with the bottom swipe, learn something new everyday. Can confirm works on One Plus.
