Real sh*t, most of the A list actors are like that. Method acting has been described as "bringing your truth to fictional situations". Plus casting studios already have an actor in mind as soon as they read a script because they're usually written for a specific type anyway. It's a reason nobody has cast the Rock as a lawyer or a surgeon, and nobody's casting Snoop Dogg as an action movie star.

Most actors are the same in every role.

There’s only a few who switch it up completely on a regular basis.

Denzel is the same character in every movie.

So is Leonard DiCaprio (my favorite actor)

So is Tom Hardy

The reason is that it’s easier as an actor to do one thing well. When that thing is called for, you get the role. Way easier to be a specialist.

That’s like being a chef, plumber, lawyer, and a landscaper and trying to regularly get jobs for all of them because your pretty solid in each area.

Even actors that switch up play the same type of characters all the time (Jonny Depp and Jared Leto are gonna transform and play some wacky a*s over the top characters).

One actor that really does switch up is Will Smith. Not a huge fan, but some sh*t he’s serious, some sh*t he’s comedic, some sh*t is action. He’s often smart mouthed, but sometimes he’s dead serious.

Also robin williams. Although I feel like he only had 2 modes. deathly serious or nut job.

I mean isn't this more a shot at the costume designer. Pretty sure actors don't decided the outfit on films?

Props cuz Leo is my GOAT as well.

He was different in Gilbert’s Grape (of course lol) and Romeo and Juliet.

Agreed. Even Denzel and I believe Will the same can be said to an extent when it comes to mannerisms and facial expressions.

Terrible take. If you watch their films and you think they play the same characters over and over again then you are not watching the film properley.

Those guys are on a different echelon of acting skills.

But let’s say we keep it to wrestlers or “body guys” like Stallone and Arnold… I think Batista has much better, presence, range, and comedic timing than Rock. Matter of fact, I don’t think it’s a debate.

Drax is way more funny than any of Dwayne’s last decade of work.

I think you upset some people by mentioning Denzel Washington but I have to agree. Ive always felt like he was playing the same dude but in different scenarios. He is very cool and charismatic. He draws you in. Very intriguing but he doesn’t have the widest range. People love him so much so they will reject the a*sertion that he has limited range. I do think Leonardo DiCaprio has decent range. I legit thought dude was slow when i first watched “what’s eating Gilbert Grape”

the rock's appearance in basically in his contract. thats why he always looks the same. there's also dumb sh*t in there, like saying he cant lose f*ghts in movies, he HAS to have a love interest, etc.
