Add butter and salt, cook them very very slow, and don’t mix unnecessary shot in the cooking, have that on the side
I too used to sh*t on grits, but it’s cuz I ain’t know how to make them right.

they're neutral really
we expend more energy eating corn products than we get from it.

as far a nutrients go you dont get much
its just a filler food.

if training you are better off eating oatmeal
protein
dietary fiber
and it lowers bad cholesterol

i know we do not get along but preach. i do not eat califlour snacks and chips because they taste good. i eat it so i can loose weight and while fasting.

same with califlour crackers,and 0 calories micrale noodles. and other stuff during my fasts and excerise.

n*ggas be expecting low calories healthy 0g sguar and carbs protein shakes to taste like fast food shakes or cold stoney milkshakes.

grits is not a meal that is high in calories bro. you do not need to eat a healthy version of grits. even the quaker oats version is like 100 calories 9g of carbs for one pack that would give you a plate full.

What brands are bad?
We stick with Dixie Lily grits. Most of the others are lacking in natural flavor and like dude said, you have to cook them slowly, use an 1/8+ stick of Land O Lakes REAL salted butter(no margarine, vegetable oil spread or olive oil), salt, pepper and make sure they arent dry or runny.

I grew up in a New Orleans family and was always taught the key to good grits was to cook using milk not water. I no longer drink cows milk but I’ve found that almond milk and pea milk, which is my favorite, work just as well.

My understanding was that milk makes grits creamy so you used water or broth instead.

For cream of wheat you used milk.

A can of light coconut milk would work well as a replacement for cow's milk.
