World's Fastest Electric Car Charger Offers a Full Charge in 15 Minutes

ABB's Terra 360 modular charger can charge four vehicles at once.

Swiss engineering company ABB has launched what it claims to be the fastest electric car charger in the world, capable of recharging any electric car in just 15 minutes.

One of the downsides of switching to an electric vehicle is how long they take to recharge. Even with the best chargers on the market today, you need to set aside an hour or more if you want a fully recharged battery. ABB promises to change that, though, with its Terra 360 (360 kW) modular charger.

The Terra 360 can recharge up to four vehicles at once. ABB says its new charger can offer 62 miles of range in under three minutes when focused on a single vehicle. To put that in context, Tesla's Supercharger offers 200 miles of range in 15 minutes, whereas over the same period you'd get at least 310 miles from the Terra 360.

ABB is hoping to have Terra 360 available in Europe by the end of this year before bringing the modular charger to the US, Latin America, and Asia Pacific regions in 2022. With its ability to charge four vehicles at once, ABB is targeting refueling stations, urban charging stations, retail parking, and fleet locations for deployment. The footprint of the Terra 360 looks to be similar to that of traditional gas pumps.

If you've never heard of ABB before, the company entered the e-mobility market in 2010 and has already sold over 460,000 electric vehicle chargers in 88 markets. With that in mind, the Terra 360 should start popping up at new locations pretty quickly next year. The chargers can be customized with branding and color using LED light strips, as well as an optional 27-inch advertising display for images and video playback.

solid state batteries are coming up next and thats when EV will take off
they use ceramics as an electrolyte instead of lithium and a silicone/graphite combo as the anode

QS already has a prototype
actually solid state batteries are pretty old in concept

thats just one you have sila nano that has been working on this also

you can make a battery out of damn near anything
You can use piss, cardboard, pennies and electrical tape to make batteries.

the difference is storage and discharge density

Tesla uses lithium-ion batteries

The only known difference is that they can allegedly sustain more charge/discharge cycles, aaanndd they lose a % of capacity every year of daily use

.. just like cell phone batteries

I’m aware they are both based on lithium-ion but there’s obviously way more tech and hardware involved that makes it not wear like a single cell iphone battery.

that was not the point you weirdo

you are now trying to save face

there was NO NEED to bark in the 1st place if you then turn around and agree with the original damn premise. Bottom line THEY DO LOSE CAPACITY OVER TIME LIKE CELL PHONE BATTERIES

Tesla even throttled the supercharging speed for a number of vehicles that were using it "more often than their home chargers"

... cause it was significantly reducing the battery capacity

typical BX n*gga attitude
