Mac users: Safari or Chrome? or another browser?

Ive been on Chrome for years but trying Safari out this week for one main reason: Screen real estate.
The new Safari has the address and tabs in one line so it takes up very little space and bookmark bar can be shown or hidden with one click. . in Chrome you need to change a setting for the bookmarks bar..so the Chrome toolbar takes up 3 times the space . .

which browser y'all use and why??

some other thoughts:
Chrome takes up more Ram
Chrome tracks everything and is less private
Chrome def has better extensions
Not sure which is faster ...both seem the same to me.

I always use safari. Chrome is a no go for me, it brings my computer to a screeching halt and never bothered to understand why.

I don't know much about Mac whatsoever, not an apple user either, BUT, have you tried Edge? I think there's a version for mac. I switched from chrome about 2 years ago ish and haven't went back. It's built on the same engine as chrome but it's way more light than chrome, at least for now. Also you can use the same extensions from the chrome web store on edge $0.02

Man, Apple got my a*s locked on safari ... was gonna make Brave my default but we cant export passwords from safari.
Any way they did a lil upgrade on safari, looks a bit better and its tweaked differently for each device (iPad, iOS, Mac OS)

Coming from windows I used Edge but on Apples ecosystem , native apps is a different animal. Everything from apple integrates so well between devices and native software. its crazy.

I used windows for 20 years. I didn't get WTF these apple users were talking about when they say "ecosystem". After a year using a MacBook, iPad, and iPhone ... I get it. I tried these devices knowing I could sell them in the secondary market if I didn't like it.

Idk if you know this but for most browser press F11 for full screen. I use chrome in fullscreen all the time. It hides everything up top until you move your mouse up there to change websites or hit back forward etc.

You still being tracked. Sure no one around you can see in private and whatever is there is gone after the fact but best believe your isp or service provider see it all. Use a VPN for COMPLETE privacy.

You’ll have a better time if you use Apple software once you are fully in the ecosystem.

Plus keychain is like 2nd nature to me now. The fact that it shares across Mac and iPhone is cool for me.

Finally read this article:

Basically the latest chrome update turned on a feature called idle detection that tracks your movement on a webpage. If you just have it open in the background or if you’re actively browsing a certain section of it. They’re going to sell that info to advertisers.

How to disable Idle Detection in Chrome 94 or higher

Launch Chrome
Visit chrome://settings/content/idleDetection in address bar
Under Default behavior, select “Don’t allow sites to know when you’re actively using your device“

I might start using safari more, I always used chrome on both of my systems(windows and mac) since my logins are already there.
But when I go to upgrade this 16inch. I'm going to get the mid-tier MacBook pro

Brave is Chromuim based, so you can run all of your Chrome plug-ins on brave, with added privacy, and BAT mining.

Best product on the market.
