Doesn't even come close to anything he's made aside from maybe Magnolia or Inherent Vice.

I can respect that...not a big fan of Inherent Vice either.

Although I think he made Katherine Waterston look drop dead Gorgeous and got interesting performances by Brolin and Joaquin.

At the same time I just think he lost his will/ability to write the kind of stories he was becoming known for awhile ago which is why his last 3 or 4 movies in a row were either based off books/loosely based off historical characters.

My guess is wanting to cast Hoffman's son (as a tribute to one of his favorite muses) and the singer girl inspired him...which is good.

And maybe he just watched a lot of Dazed and Confused before he started writing.

He is in his element in that timeframe. That’s his aesthetic and he does well sticking to it.

What singer girl?

Also, man Inherent Vice left me so hurt because I was so excited to see it. The promotional work and lead up to it was so s*xy and jazzy and the film was a befuddled mess. The story made just zero sense. It’s not my job, as an audience member, to root out esoteric meaning from stories. The subtext can’t be opaque, vague or trailing on… and that’s all Inherent Vice was. I have argued that film with film students for hours on end. I hate it so much because its the one blot on PTA’s resume and its easily the one I was most excited about. Can’t win them all though, so I still love him and forgive him and it looks like he’s deliver big time this time around.

Did a little quick research wondering who the ugly (unique looking though) chick was opposite Hoffman's kid in the trailer.

Turns out she's some kinda semi famous singer and PTA directed some of her videos.

No clue how that relationship started and dont really care enough to find out tbh...so i'm gonna a*sume its the same when I was thinking she was another actor friend of his kid with no experience that he wanted to give their first break (and the Dazed connection again also, lowkey).

Why exactly?

It looks like a bad joke (like most Netflix original Horror).

Glad Catherine Keener staying employed though.

Bro, that show is COMPLETELY awful. Zero. And I mean ZERO redeeming qualities.

And the bi*ch a*s has a pu**y in her rib cage. n*ggah fisting her rib-cage-pu**y and mfers telling you to watch.

bi*ch throwing up kittens every episode.

The sh*t is awful. I want my time back and I want to slap people in the face who tell others to watch that sh*t.

It's fu*king awful. Terrible story line. Terrible characters. Dumb motivations. Silly acting. Silly premise. Just fu*king awful.

It's feminist drivel at it's worst, it wants to have it's cake and eat it too but as long as you don't criticize it for eating it's cake, but it's going to smack it in your face the whole time. It's one of those things you watch and just think 'Hollywood is nepotism through and through' because NO way anyone can pitch this non-sense and convince someone to give them millions of dollars for it. It's fu*king awful. Just god awful.
