His career earnings was only 45 mil
He was about to retire and most likely didn't have the money

He made the wrong decision becausehe didn't have business acumen. It happens to everyone at some point, you make a financial decision you end up regretting.

In this day in age its more well known that the majority of your personal expenses can be written off by or attributed to your business. Food, attire, travel, etc. are all covered. Housing to an extent too in some cases and also a corporate credit card would've allowed him to live comfortably.

He just fumbled the bag. He ain't hurting though.

If his career earnings were only 45mil what business acumen was he supposed to have to get 36mil liquid at the end of his career?

36 million was a lot for football players in the 90's, even QB's. I wouldn't be surprised if that was his entire bank account back then.

But that doesn't seem like a risky move at all. He definitely should have done it.

Minus his expenses lawyers agents he probably didn’t even have close to that that’s crazy how these legends of the game we’re being paid compared to the players now

CREDIT ..thats why Investment Banks exist. If a person who makes 60k can get 500k for a house a person with 20 can get a loan for 38 mil

And you would be right. Looks like this dude just keeps fumbling. Still made off, but I would think we can agree he fumbled this one too.

“ ELWAY SELLS CAR DEALERSHIPS TO HUIZENGA”

“ Wayne Huizenga's Republic Industries Inc., announced an agreement yesterday to buy Broncos QB John Elway's Denver automobile dealerships for $82.5 million in stock.

The dealerships are controlled and managed by Elway and partner Rod Buscher. Elway will sign a multiyear employment agreement with Republic, but Buscher will leave once the deal closes.

From owner to worker.
