That's cool but it sort of ruins the mystique of the movie.

CA filmmakers always just film around CA if they're short on, or trying to save, money.

I thought that was 1980s Miami. That movie is a big part of the mystique of the city, and it turns out it's not even Miami.

If you say Miami Vice was filmed in CA, that's gonna be a serious punch for "Miami in the 80s." Which is kind of culturally iconic.

A little tangential to Scarface but one of my favorite movies is Bully (2001).

Larry Clark actually filmed it in Florida, where the crimes actually took place. And you can feel it. The movie FEELS like Florida, and that's just one part of why it's so awesome.

So it makes a big difference. I guess if you don't know any better, it's whatever.

If anything it reinforces the magic that CA had, there’s a feeling in some areas and blocks that sh*t is surreal

I'm pretty sure a vast amount of our favorite movies/shows were filmed in Los Angeles or California in general despite the setting where the story takes place.

Whether it be on location or in studio. Some studio lots even have their own replicated versions of what NYC looks like...lol.

Is the scene outside where his man is checking out the girl at the same location?

That would help a lot too, if that were really Miami.

Damn you took me back with that one. I remember first watching that on IFC or something back in middle school. It was like a West Coast version of Kids/The Warriors...lol.
