Tesla isn't in the business of repairing cars that are out of warranty. No manufacturers really are.

Tesla did what they should have done, either replace the entire battery pack or nothing at all.

And Rich did what he was supposed to do. Repair it for about 5k.

Yea at a profit standpoint ..car becomes too expensive to repair so they make you buy a new one …but it hurts the brand reputation in the long run…they need to work with third party shops and stop road blocking ..allow shops to get the parts they need to fix old or high mileage Tesla’s

I feel like you should never buy a used tesla especially if you are a “driver” …

This is why NIO is on to something with their battery swap stations and subscription model. Current Gen 2 swap stations can chanhe the battery out in a little over 5 minutes.

This is like saying McDonalds isnt trying to sell you fries and a drink - only big macs.

Auto Parts and repairs are higher margin sales that add profit to the bottom line.

Tesla doesnt do it because they dont have extra parts capabilities - they can barely build cars behind schedule as it is.

Meanwhile auto parts alone are worth over 150 billion as an industry.

Ford probably makes more from parts sales than Tesla does from cars.

I used to be in the car business and worked a dealership. They straight up told us, the dealership doesn’t make money selling cars, they make money servicing them and selling parts. They depend on the dummies who buy new cars and bring the car back to the dealer for service.

That’s why so many dealerships give you free oil changes now when you buy a new car, they get you in with the free oil changes then they can be the ones to tell you “you need brakes, you need tires, you need fluids changed, tires rotated, air filter, 30k mile service, 60k mile service etc etc”

Long and short if you go to a dealership for service you’re a dummy.

Non profit doesn’t mean you’re a business that doesn’t bring in or care about revenue

I don't feel like going deep into this so I'll just post this because non-profits aren't some holy justice mission.

"The key difference between nonprofits and for-profits is that a nonprofit organization cannot distribute its profits to any private individual (although nonprofits may pay reasonable compensation to those providing services)."

Outside of that and not being taxed, they are the same. Though to not get taxed, your booking needs to be clean and neat as fu*k or you will get in trouble! They are a business that cares about profits and has to even prove how they will get it. They get a lot of donations but non-profits can 100% charge you for anything. The money to pay employees has to come from somewhere more than just donations. These companies be selling all kinds of stuff for profit

Out of warranty repairs is all profit in the auto industry.

Most manufacturers will sell you any and every part you need down to the nuts and bolts along with detailed instructions, diagrams and issues to look out for when doing the repair.
