I just learned about Tariq trying to build a museum and I think it's great that he wants to build an actual brick and mortar and have a museum of substance for African Americans, but his goal of reaching one million is looking far-fetched. There's not enough time on his campaign to make that happen. And unfortunately, he doesn't have a big enough audience or enough outreach to make it
I'm not sure but I don't think Umar got a full million. It took Umar forever to reach about 700k, and he had access to mainstream outlets like the Breakfast Club. Tariq only has his youtube channel and social media. He also has niched himself with only pure African-Americans that he calls FBA, which has probably discouraged Pan-African and diaspora contributions.
If he was still pro-diaspora and had the message of reaching out to ALL black/melanated people as he had five years ago, he could've probably had 500k by now, but that still wouldn't be enough. As I type this, Tariq is a little about 300k but he has about 700k more to go in a matter of days. It's looking improbable but I still believe that he'll find a way to get it done.
