The premise was very reminiscent of many west african horror films having to do with generational curses. I was very pleased to see it translate so well. Toni Collette shouldve won an Oscar for that role. It wouldnt surprise me to learn she needed to see a therapist after the film finished (like one of the other co actors in the film)

I was literally talking about this very topic last night and cited this very movie as the last time I was truly captivated by a horror movie.

Here's a question...

Are horror movies actually as trash as they seem?

Or are we just older, so sh*t ain't as scary no more?

When I was younger Freddy made me scared to close my eyes, Jason made the woods scary, even Chuckie was scary cuz those My Buddy dolls were actually in stores and popular and in some people's houses when that movie dropped , etc

But none of those movies are scary to me now as an adult

As an adult you know whats up. I remember my uncles used to make us watch all those movies and laugh as they pranked us when we slept over. So I dont think it scared them.

But its funny back then it was just slashers now most of them are satan fu*king with you..

Horror took a big hit after the Blair Witch bullsh*t. After that horror was a cash grab with small budgets. Clive Barker and Stephen King are still on top

Hereditary was ok, but I think some of you slightly overrate it.

Because there have been other very good horror films recently.

Same

I haven't seen a good horror movie in a very long time

Obviously these movies have jump scares and some gore but nothing that makes me turn on all the lights in the house to go grab a glass of water
