- He had a 97-19 (83.6%) overall record from 2001-2009.

- Went 14-2 vs traditional rivals UCLA/Notre Dame. (Only lost once vs each)

- Went 7-2 in bowl games. (Including 4 Rose Bowl and 2 Orange Bowl wins)

- Went 18-3 vs SEC, Big 10, Big 12, and ACC teams.

- Won 1 national championship and 2 AP championships.

- Produced 3 Heisman winners. (Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and Reggie Bush)

Do you think if he would've stayed, USC would still be relevant? Mind you, they did go 9-4 in 2009. Thus leaving him departing to Seattle the next year. You can argue the reasoning being Reggie Bush, maybe? image
Regardless, I still think he would've adjusted. Dude was a player friendly coach and was reminiscent of a kid in practices/sidelines which led recruits to buy into him while winning in the process...

SC was the only team that could compete with Bama. They ALWAYS kept a great QB, plus would get the lineman to compete in the trenches plus skill players. NCAA took them down to prop up their cash cows. SC was the premier program for a reason in Pete’s era.

Not as long as Saban is still alive and coaching.

Not sure he'd be THE premier coach in college football, but I think he'd be a smidge bit better Joe Frazier to Saban's Muhammad Ali than Dabo Swinney and Ryan Day currently are

We could've got Saban vs Carroll in 2003 for the national championship.

USC won the AP but LSU won the real thing...lol.

USC was coming to the SEC schools and scrubbing them in their own stadium. That undefeated Auburn team in 2004 that their fans screamed was robbed of a NC, was smacked a year earlier in Jordan-Hare 23-0. That was the Cadillac Williams/Ronnie Brown/Jason Campbell team.

2005 they beat Arkansas 70-17 in LA then the next season 50-14 in Fayetteville. Arkansas might be buns now but back then they they were lead by Darren McFadden, Peyton Hillis & Felix Jones.

the only thing that stopped USC from maintaining was Pete leaving to the NFL. dude had the entire west coast on lock & was pulling guys from the south when he was there.

If Pete Carroll was still at USC Tua would have never went to Alabama. Pete had the West Coast on lock

No the program was about to get sanctioned by the NCAA. No way for him to keep the program alive after losing that many scholarships.

That 9-4 season was considered a huge disappointment. That’s how high expectations were. But I 100% believe that was a result of them being distracted by all the sanctions talk. NCAA damn near gave the program the death penalty.

Y’all saying he wouldn’t be top dawg because of Saban, but Saban got to where he is in part because ol’ Sneaky Pete got out the way for him to shine. Hell, he wouldn’t be what he is if Urban Meyer ain’t give him room to breathe either.

Saban, excellent as he is, would not be as highly regarded with Pete Carroll still in the NCAA

Alabama shouldn’t have even been in that national championship game vs my Horns in 2009. If fat a*s Terrence Cody didn’t block the Tennessee kicker from winning the game Alabama goes to the sugar bowl for a 2nd year in a row
