California in the past 20 years kind of surpassed NYC in producing players.

We don't have the open lots and spaces we used tonout here where a lot of nyc ayers perfected their game. We lost a lot of outdoor space and courts these past few years

Where you are born and where you are raised are two different things fam.

Where someone claims to be "from" is on their own personal connection with an area

Pac spent more years of his life on the east coast then west but still "claimed" California. But at the end of the day he was still born in or from New york

Pack only claimed Cali because of his beef with biggie, his rap name was MC New York in Cali
If nobody from Brooklyn claimed they grew up with melo and MJ that means they're not from Brooklyn because people would definitely claim it

Melo himself claims red hook. He paid for a new basketball court in his old neighborhood.

yall dudes know lot of people named nobody.

Assuming nobody when in fact there is video of Melo playing basketball in a red hook playground as a kid. And its not Melo's video. and what nobody claims means nothing. Where you from can be many places but on day 1, they from NY.

Do your research. Melo went to school in NY. He can tell and show you. he has in the past. He has history in NY. MJ is different. He was a baby when he moved FROM NY.

Anthony recalled his days at the housing projects; many of them spent playing basketball, he said, at the opening.

“I had a safe haven,” said the former Red Hook local, who said he wanted children in the neighborhood to have the same experience.

“Red Hook is my home,” he said. “This is where it started.”

Melo left Brooklyn at 8. I'm sure he can tell you things

And again, somebody can claim where they are Born as where they are from.

n*gga you west indian, you of all people should k ow that when people say where they from isn't always where they are born. But if this thread is focusing on people born in NY then they count. Period
