The so-called unbeatable Golden State Warriors, WITH Durant, had their backs against the wall against Houston, in large part because Houston got more physical with them than they were accustomed to.

In 2017, the Cavs won 1 game against the Warriors in the Finals, and that was the only game they got really physical with them.

Those are but a few examples.

Believe it or not, physicality is an effective method against players not built to withstand it.

I wouldn't say Embiid because they have different games but Bargnani & Bosh in this era are getting 26-30 a game.

Old nba heads? youve been this board since for 15 years, that means that even if you joined when you were 15, youd be in your 30s.....pretty sure that makes your an "old head" to alot of the younger people on this site... and yes before you ask, yes i too am in my 30s

Second of all, Bargs was the #1 overall pick in the draft, had a 10 year career and had seasons where he averaged 19-20+ppg.....sorry, but dude could play. He wasnt a star, but he was good.
I wouldnt say he would be embiid in this era but thats only because their games were too similar to me, but i would say he would be a better version of Porz

They act like we can't go back and watch the film. Like there's no video on this or something.

The NBA wasn't that much more physical back then. You can go back and watch whole games ffs.

I would even go on a limb and say that the NBA is more physical in today's game but not on the defensive side, but the offensive side(mostly in ball handling). Ball handlers are WWWAAAAYYY more physical as a whole. Bumping the defender, more hand f*ghting and way more push offs now than ever before(they need to call these more often).

Now , I do agree that Bosh and Barg would do better in this era, but it's because they emphasize the 3 more and not because they were more physical back in the day.

He would because nobody emphasized the 3 back then. They'd have no clue how to contain that kind of shooting. He definitely can't create like AI, especially with that little spacing, but he wouldn't try or have to. Most guards defended at the 3 or 1 step in. Steph would shoot even more 3's than he does now.

Hell the classic Suns teams in the 2000 would be a dynasty today.

90% of the teams today wouldn’t survive vs defensive teams that was winning games with 84 pts on the regular.

This is some of the dumbest sh*t I've ever heard. The game today was not that much different than when bargnani played as far as physicality, minor differences. He wouldve taken more 3s, that's bout it today, but still would've been soft. Embiid around 07, would still be a dominant big, probably even more... Because the game was still featuring bigs heavy.

Bargnanis prime was around 2010ish...these n*ggas think 2010 was 1991 or early 00s? Lol delusional. Game was already becoming soft then.

Lol bargnani was not efficient at all as a shooter , you guys are moving like he was elite

He didnt play much defense either

Was a frequent locker room whiner / cancer

Yea he had 1 or 2 decent seasons where he put up volume points but he was mostly a black hole

In fact raptors fans celebrated getting a first round pick for him , he was a serious amnesty candidate at the time . Getting anything of value back let alone a pick that was lottery was a big win for Masai

The NBA was a little bit more physical in the early 2000's. If you graze someone on the head now, the players falls out like he has been shot. The refs stop the game, run over to the monitor and gives out a flagrant.

The NBA is just like any other sport today, they want more offense. So the offensive player now can push off, bump, travel to gain an advantage. Just like in the NFL. Back in the day cornerbacks could beat up the receivers, now they just run free and go over the middle without even the fear of getting hit. Linemen use to body slam quarterbacks. Like when Jim Burt knocked the sh*t outta Joe Montana. Hit Mahomes like that and you're probably suspended multiple games.
