MARYLAND CITY, Md — Three adults are dead and a 10-year-old boy was injured after a shooting inside a home in Maryland City, police said.

Anne Arundel County police said officers were called around 9:30 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Federalsburg South for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, police said they found three adults dead and a child injured. The child was taken to a hospital and is in critical but stable condition, police said Tuesday.

"We know right now that the child is out of surgery and is in critical but stable condition," Anne Arundel County Police Chief Amal said Tuesday.

A man was lying on a nearby sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds, police said. He was identified as Ryan Scott Lee Sr., 31, and police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers went into a house and found Lee's wife, Ivania Margarita Lee, 31, suffering from gunshot wounds. She was also pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

A man identified as Shawn Maurice Price, 55, of Welcome, was also found and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

"This was a very traumatic and devastating, not only incident, but scene. It sickens all of us. Multiple family members violently taken from us, young children present, a child injured as well and taken to the hospital," Awad said Tuesday. "Our hearts remain with these families."

Police said they believe the suspect is among the dead.

Police said investigators learned that Price was dating a woman for a number of years who now resided within the Federalsburg South house. Over the past several months, issues arose between Price and his estranged girlfriend. Recently, he was trying to reconcile his relationship with his ex-girlfriend but she refused any contact, police said.

"It appears to be more of a previous relationship that Mr. Price was attempting to work on; however, the female that was also at that residence was not interested," Anne Arundel County police Sgt. Kam Cooke said.

Neighbors referred to the ex-girlfriend as the grandmother who lived at the house.

Police said evidence indicated Price drove to the area and parked away from the house before going inside and calling for the ex-girlfriend, at which time, he shot and ki1led Mr. and Mrs. Lee, and shot and critically injured the young child. Price, then took his own life in an apparent su1cide, police said.

The unidentified ex-girlfriend ran out of the house with the Lees' 2-year-old child and handed her to a neighbor.

"She just hold the baby. We just reacted, we didn't ask any questions," said Hamid Mansaray, a neighbor.

A handgun was found next to Price and his injuries were consistent with the characteristics of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will perform autopsies on the deceased to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Neighbors described the Lees as a friendly, nice, pleasant couple, saying this is the worst violence their neighborhood has ever seen.

"Seeing the dad lying here, takes my breath. (I) was, like, wow. We don't know what to make of this," Mansaray said.

Neighbors said Ryan Lee was always doing something with his children and his wife liked to work in the yard.

"Any time she was out, I would say hi, or we both smoked, so I'd go over there and smoke a cigarette with her and we would chit chat," said Chrystal Hildebrand, a neighbor.

Neighbors said they worry about the Lees' two children who lost their parents.

"I'm trying to focus on the kids. What's going to happen to them? The 2-year-old baby that we brought in yesterday?" Mansaray said.

The ex-girlfriend told neighbors she tried to get a protective order against Price, but the courts wouldn't listen. A public records search indicates a Howard County judge ruled in November that there was "no statutory basis for relief."
