Is this the most tragic day in Hip-Hop history?

September 13th 1996- 2Pac is pronounced dead at 25 after suffering gun shot wounds in a drive-by shooting 6 days earlier.

March 9th 1997- Notorious B.I.G. dies at 24 after a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.

November 13th 2004- Ol Dirty Bastard dies of an overdose 2 days shy of his 36th birthday.

March 31st 2019- Nipsey Hussle dies at 33 from gunshot wounds.

April 9th 2021- DMX dies at 50 after being hospitalized for a week after a heart attack apparently due to a drug overdose.

These are just a few of the tragic days that have occurred in hip-hop history I know I'm leaving off some like Eazy-E, Big L, Big Pun etc. I know this is fresh on our minds but could this be the saddest day in hip hop history? RIP to all these legends

Nipsey don't belong anywhere on that list or in a bracket as those others were in.

Eh, all those other deaths were shocking and the artists were fairly new. They never blossomed to be anything what X is, besides maybe ODB. He and X were walking legends. X had that 25 year career.

Everyone else had became legends after their passing

ummmmmm

look at it like inflation bro.... NO one is selling like X and them sold.. its just impossible now as the distrobution has changed...

one could argue that nip was big as hell on his platform... not big as x or kendrick for that matter... but he was On and on the upwards swing of things...

He had more releases than BIG.... but big didn't have mixtapes and digi distro...

anywaays.... it was sad to a ton of people and had a big impact... possibly energy wise as big as pac if not larger in some aspects as his death was literrally on some poetic judas theory shyt.

nawww u don't have to explain that... Nips passing was massive to a large group of folk and played out on social media in real time....

cant compare it to when pac and big got chipped or when ODB OD'....

Idk. Pac was a legend. At least in my eyes. I was only 10 but I remember being crushed by it and the outpouring of love from his fans was huge. The world knew they lost something special.

PAC was a legend before he died. That's just how great dude was. He was only 25 and had a 4 year run of being famous.

Technically ODB wasn't the greatest but I consider him the soul of the Wu-Tang. Feels like a vital ingredient is missing without him. Now it's just a bunch of super lyrical guys going at it, his style gave their music some much needed contrast and character. That first LP is a certified classic too

To me personally Doom is on this level and I felt it with Guru too even more because of the whole situation.

But the overall love from crossover folks and true rap fans alike, I'd say this is the worst rap death in a good while.

Big's death was sad af. Mainly cause it came out of nowhere. I remember waking up to the news in the morning. I remember when Pac got shot that last time. I really thought he was gonna survive. I remember clearly thinking "well this n*gga is gonna be super pissed now" only for him to pass. That was a different kind of shock. Now Nip wasn't the impactful mc like they were but his situation was fu*ked up cause like Big it came outta nowhere. He seemed like he was right in the middle of taking that first big step in his career commercially anyway. X looked healthy and happy. I had a homie who relapsed and ODed. Recovering and relapsing over and over is HARD on the body and eventually they go back and take the dose that they were used to and it's over with. They don't have to do anything excessive its just that process of going back and forth is enough

No one checked for nipsey until he died
That’s the truth

His following grew by millions upon death

But only a few thousand were checking for him in the tech/investment and rap aspect

That’s the sad reality i use to mention nip more and people were like who smh

That doesn't mean anything

Social media hyped up his death, that's good for his family

Staples center didn't care about him when he was alive

It was a nice gesture after death tho

Any any of those rappers could've filled an arena for a memorial but that's besides the point
