Jamie Foxx Returns To His Comedy Roots In Netflix ‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me’ Trailer

Jamie Foxx is back on his funny sh*t with his upcoming television sitcom, Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! Set to premiere on April 14 on Netflix, Foxx plays a businessman who adjusts to bachelor life as a single father to his teenage daughter, Sasha (Kyla-Drew). The multi-camera comedy series is inspired by his relationship with his real-life daughter and the series’ co-executive producer, Corinne Foxx, and co-created with writer and producer, Jim Patterson.

Foxx not only reunites with The Jamie Foxx Show producer Bentley Kyle Evans—who will serve as showrunner and co-producer—for the new series, he’s reuniting with former In Living Color castmate David Alan Grier, who plays his father. In true sketch comedy style, Foxx is set to play a slew of additional characters like the balding, sandal rockin’ Calvin.

“I cannot wait for you guys to check my new television show on Netflix “Dad Stop embarrassing me” nonstop laughs and characters galore…,” wrote an excited Foxx in the caption of his Instagram post. “Like Calvin who insisted on having a photo shoot… April 14 tap in!”

The cast of Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! includes Porscha Coleman, Jonathan Kite, Heather Hemmens, and Valente Rodriguez. Ken Whittingham (black-ish) is the 8-episode show’s director. Catch Foxx’s new show on Netflix this Spring (April 14) on Netflix.

So what’s the scoop? These comments seem to be negative so far. Is it anywhere near his old show? Lan the late 90s and early 2ks were really a special time for ‘urban telivision’ as they called it. The Steve Harvey show was my fave and i never really liked steve harvey. So many to name jamie foxx show wasn’t my favorite but it was good.

He’s a Co-Creator & I believe his production company was behind it. I’m sure he had to attach himself as the star to get it green lit, it’s a chess move to open doors I think.

To be fair the second half of the season gets at least watchable. Like if you want some sh*t playing in the back ground. The writing, and timing got better. Mainly because Jamie and David had a lot more screen time together so, they did a lot of adlib and sh*t flowed better.

My issue is the tone. The show doesn't know if it wants to be some Disney sh*t or an Urban comedy. It switches from scene to scene. The second half was definitely more adult though.

Jamie and David are the only Authentic black people on the show. Everybody else sounds weird reading the lines because that's not their natural dialect.

Iis comedy dead? Everything seems so forced now when it comes to intentional humor.
