What Y'all Think About iMacs?

image

Im thinking about copping one. I got a MacBook Pro but I need more space and power. As of now I mostly wanna do photo/video editing and producing and then get into more stuff late on. Im looking at this one. I heard I could get the 8GB of ram and get more added on later.

Probably want to get a custom one to get the maximum amount of years out of it. When you factor in the build along with the specs and screen quality, they're worth it if you pick the right things that'll somewhat future proof it. Graphics/CPU and the SSD is def something to look at upgrading if you plan on doing ram later. 8GB ram will kick you in the a*s when you get serious with editing.

My only drawback to them is that their graphics cards could be better for gaming purposes.

Yea I was gonna do the custom then up the ram myself . 2 TB SSD ,8 core , 5700 XT graphic card etc
That sh*t gonna run close to 4000 , I’m not trying to go higher than that. Y’all think the new design would really be worth it ?

Might not be able to upgrade the Ram on the new ones too since theyíre going ARM based

Just trade in your current MacBook pro for a new 16inch MacBook Pro with an i9 processor, 1TB SSD, and more ram (up to 64GB). Then cop a 4K external monitor. That way you won’t be relegated to having to just use your iMac at your desk and can move around and work if you wanted to.

Depending on the year and specs of your MB you might not have to come out of pocket too crazy with the trade in.

Maybe not just for the new design, but possibly if they put new chips in it. Especially since the announcement may be like 3 weeks away.

I have a 2019 Macbook (Intel) as my personal computer and a 2020 (M1 chip) for work. The M1 chip flies. There is a 8gb ram difference but the newer laptop seems drastically faster. Doing video calls on my 2019 would kick the fans on and I haven't been able to get the fan to turn on with my 2020 at all.

That’s definitely an interesting thought . I’ll look into it but I still think it might be s*xier to have both lol

Edit : man for the 16 inch with all the stuff I want with the trade in I’d still be paying close to what I’d be paying for the iMac I want

As far as I know, it's still closed proprietary bullsh*t. They're even against you repairing your own devices and have went as far as implementing anti-repair design. Personally, can't rock with companies like that.

I've used an iMac but don't own one. They're dope. I'll get one eventually

But I love my Macbook Pro. This mofo amazing and its from 2012. The only thing I did was add a new SSD for more space. Need a new battery tho. I need to make sure I get a solid one. Don't want a sh*tty replacement. But Apple make that sh*t tuff

Got one from this eBay seller,

Also got a MacBook Pro from him years ago, highly recommended, and my iMac was $520 3.4ghz , 2TB hd, 8gb ram, but I just added another 24 gb, installed it myself, runs like a champ, no lag at all, use it for Pro Tools
