Venom 2: Carnage Isn't the Big Bad - He's the Start of Something MUCH Worse

image

"The post-credits scene of Venom gave audiences a look at Woody Harrelson's Cletus Kasady, a serial k*ller that comic book fans would recognize as the human alter ego of the villainous symbiote, Carnage. With the way that Sony is seemingly expanding the mythos of the symbiotes in its movies, it's possible that the studio is teasing the introduction of an even more powerful entity: Knull.

While Carnage is one of the most feared villains on Earth, Knull is one of the most dangerous entities in all of the Marvel Universe, on par with other cosmic beings like Ego the Living Planet and Thanos. Knull is a character that would be easy to adapt for both the Sony films and the MCU, and like Thanos, he could end up becoming the big bad that Sony/Marvel films will build up to.

Who is Knull ?

image

Knull first appeared in Venom Vol 4 #3, introducing himself to Eddie Brock as the Lord of the Abyss and God of the Symbiotes. Like the Celestials, Knull's existence predates the entire Marvel universe. The creation of the universe by the Celestials enraged Knull, who up until that point, was dwelling in an endless void. Outraged that the "Light of Creation" was ruining his kingdom of darkness, he manifested the first symbiote, All-Black, as a sword and used it to decapitate a Celestial. Knull then manifested himself a symbiote suit before launching a campaign of terror against other cosmic divine beings.

He would later create a planet called Klyntar, also known as the Planet of the Symbiotes, to serve as a base of operations and manifested an army of alien creatures to help him on his mission. Knull's plans were finally put to a stop in the sixth century by none other than Thor himself. The God of Thunder struck a symbiote dragon named Grendel with divine lightning, cutting off Knull's connection with the vast majority of his creations. The symbiotes eventually found more noble hosts, leading to a rebellion and Knull being imprisoned at the heart of Klyntar.

Existing Movie Ties

image

In Venom, the titular character and the main villain, Riot, were both said to have been from a planet occupied by symbiotes -- a tease that could have been hinting towards Klyntar. While previous iterations of Venom seem to have a simpler backstory, the fact that Sony is already expanding on the audience's knowledge of the character by the idea of multiple symbiotes could mean that they may eventually have Eddie Brock interact with characters in his expanded mythos, such as Knull.

To add fuel to that theory, though the first Venom film was not directly tied to the MCU, a key piece of Knull's origin story exists within the universe. In the comics, it was revealed that the sword used by Knull to slay the Celestial was then tempered using its severed head to forge it with divine cosmic energies, molding it into the Necrosword. A certain severed Celestial head exists in the MCU in the form of Knowhere, a mining colony that was first introduced in the film Guardians Of The Galaxy. While the comic did not outright state that the decapitated Celestial became Knowhere, it's still a possible way for the studios to tie in Knull's origins to the greater MCU.

With the lines between Sony's universe and the MCU blurring, Knull could find his way to Marvel Studios' playground, leaving potential for him to come up against some of the franchise's best cosmic heroes including Captain Marvel, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor. The God of Thunder interacting with the diety would allow Marvel Studios to adapt his battle with the Grendel from the comics to the big screen. For now, though, Eddie Brock has enough problems on his hands as he is set to face Carnage in the upcoming Venom 2.

Directed by Andy Serkis and starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Venom 2 is scheduled for release on Oct. 2."

damn they doing too much too early. this reminds me of BvS adding Doomsday at the end and throwing in WW.

They should just stick with Carnage vs Venom and leave it at that. Then throw in Spiderman. thats all us 90s animated spiderman fans need!

There is no way they’ve set up Knull yet. That’s Venom 3, or something with an ensemble cast.

ummm why ruin an opportunity to thorugly catalog carnages chaos onscrreen for the first time? imagine the cgi and f*ght scene choreography that can be done with carnages unique abilities/weapon sets, now they want to skip him, im a marvel fan and knull has always been crappy and used to fill weird plot lines, this is a horrible idea...

Story has it the symbiote that Is venom became violent due to Deadpool being the first person for it to attach too..the symbiote takes pieces of everyone its attached too..apparently the symbiote race is actually pretty docile beforehand

Venom wasn't that epic but tone it wasn't bad at all.

The one thing I'm sure I'll get flack for but is importamt was how they did his transformation and sticking with the script of how Venom thinks and his more straight forward approach

But this is what they have been doing for the other titles. I'm not trying to be sarcastic. But they usually use a lot of the original plot for the first movie

Then when a sequel is expected, they then RUN to the comic story line which is OG. Take bits n pieces of it.. Sprinkle some glitter shyt on the comic book story...

Then when the plot details are posted. Said Director with whatever phony vision claims he didn't want to follow the story too close.

But using the very important linking character sub plots, from the Original story but ignoring all the character development that used those sub plots..

Then ignoring the comic boom story is why Sony moves as slow as they do.

They want to introduce Knull. But haven't even attracted the cosmos.

Ego the planet isn't important now at all. In the newer stories with Silver Surfer he is. The problem is they have to leap from over more than a dozen main character stories to fit in Knull. Especially after finally getting a Carnage...

But nothing about a sinister six yet. No established Green Goblin or Hob Goblin. No Main McU Kingpin. No silver surfer...

No ancient beings outside of Earth realms petty cast. The MCU universe has levels of dominance.

And no Galactus. Which also ties im with Beings like Knull.

That's literally all they need to do. It will suffer from bad guy overload with not enough character building to make you give a damn. Example s below....

Tim Burton Batman enemies: Cops/Joker= Perfect.
Characters needing to be fleshed out but no time given: none.

Joel Schumacher Batman and Robin enimies: Cops/ Mr. Freeze/ Poison Ivy / Bane.
Characters needing to be fleshed out but no time given: Dr. Victor Fries/ Batgirl/ Robin/ Floronic Man (Jason Woodrue)/ Bane/ Dr. Pamala Isley.

Don't do this. The first movie was already bad, just give us Carnage. A real on screen, maniacal, sadistic murderer of all.
