the GAMBIT movie that was never made -summary

Plot Summary

We begin with Gambit on trial in 1984 and then flashback. Most of the script is set in ‘84 but it’s important to note Gambit left New Orleans in 1973. I’m skipping over a lot but will detail the main heist.Nathaniel Ess*x has hired Gambit and wants him to recover a trunk the Boudreaux's stole.Ess*x is said to be extremely pale with a diamond scar carved into his forehead. He says he is a geneticist who specializes in manufacturing. He’s handpicked Gambit for this heist because he sees immense potential in him.Gambit recruits Henri and Charlie Lebeau, Mask, Multiple Man and Dani Moonstar for the heist.Henri uses a drug that replicates different superpowers throughout the script. After the heist, it’s revealed the trunk contains a young mutant named Sarah (Marrow). Gambit figures out that Ess*x wants to harvest her healing abilities. Gambit wants to save her but Sarah wants to go back to Ess*x.Sarah takes Gambit to Ess*x's mutant slum compound located in an abandoned industrial center. This is where Gambit grew up before he lived with the Lebeau’s. Gambit learns that Ess*x manipulates a group of mutants to donate their blood so he can make the drug Henri used earlier.Gambit later finds a maternity ward full of mutant babies deep within the compound. He sees a baby being k*lled and goes to confront Ess*x. Gambit says he’ll destroy the operation but Ess*x injects him. He tells the first child he used was his own. The child was weak and sick,as were the drugs made from its blood. He left the child alone on the streets to see if he could survive. Ess*x pulls a Darth Vader and reveals Gambit is that child. Gambit’s whole life has been an experiment concocted by his father, Ess*x.Ess*x wants Gambit to join him and promises Gambit that he’ll never go to prison. In a fury,Gambit attacks him. He’s stopped by Ess*x's security team and is knocked out.The script jumps back to the courtroom from the beginning. Gambit is on trial for the attempted murder. Ess*x testifies against him and Gambit is sentenced to fifty years in prison. However, fear not! The trial as an elaborate ploy, set up by the Lebeaus, to secure Gambit’s escape. Everyone there, except Ess*x, is a trained actor. It’s revealed Gambit was never in the courtroom and the Lebeaus hires Mystique to be in his place.
While the fake trial was happening, the Lebeaus robbed and exposed Ess*x’s. His whole operation is done for. It ends with Gambit and the others celebrating Ess*x’s demise.

------------Tie-ins to other Fox X-Men films:•A news report in 1973 shows Mystique saving Nixon (Days of Future Past)•The Boudreauxs stole Ess*x’s trunk when Nola flooded due to Magneto manipulating Earth’smagnetic field (Apocalypse)

That dude that played Gambit in the wolverine movie was perfect for the role. John Carter flopping really fu*ked up dude career. I think he was in that battleship movie that flopped too. Hollywood kept giving dude chances but he kept choosing roles that he thought would be box office Giants instead of going the Ryan Gosling route and choosing more low-key films that focused on acting. He did it to himself

There was a video of him spazzing out, obsessing over this game or movie. Really disturbing. Vid was everywhere for a while. Then they all disappeared. heard rumors of him going into rehab or counseling. also hear that this all could be a hoax and he's trying to get out of a contract. Pretty much this is why you haven't heard from him lately.

Gambit seemed like a background X-men member. Kinda reminds me of bishop. Gambit was there.... but wasn’t ever solidified like storm, Wolverine, cyclops.

Crazy how he was in NO X-men movie. and even when they used jubilee, it was them going to the movies.

Gambit was cool.... but was a boring character. All he did was flirt lol

Eh he's got some decent sh*t out there but if it was written like most marvel movies then it wouldn't matter.

Would love a Gambit solo movie but I've accepted that for several reasons that it will never happen. Maybe a good thing tho cause I doubt they'd keep it G with how savage and playa Gambit was....

Nah the guy that played Gambit in XMO and the characters portrayal in general are trash. Gambit is Cajun he does not have a generic colonel sanders southern drawl and that sh*t is mad annoying when actors resort to it to sound exotic. You could find 50 average actors to do the same thing taylor kitsch did

Thanks once again for the info @, you always come through with the X-facts

It was a decent way to try to incorporate Gambit’s past history with Sinister hiring him to lead the Marauders to the tunnels (Mutant Massacre). Him saving Marrow once he realized what they were doing worked too, but as usual they have to be extra. Making Gambit Sinister’s son, Henri taking the pills, why use Dani Moonstar and Multiple Man? It was like they were on a good path with the adaptation and just had to throw in random sh*t to make it a classic Fox X-Men story.
