Fox thought that because he was old and white that he'd be an easy win for them.

Lol@the economy being the strongest it has ever been right now...what a fallacy.

What do y'all think about Warren not coming out and admitting that her medicaid for all plan will cause taxes to increase for poor and middle class too? I'm a supporter of hers and I know her talking point surrounding this is that overall (when u consider payment for prescriptions, visits, etc) it'll go down for folks, but I think she needs to be clear on that like Bernie has...or else she'll continue to be attacked by folks on that issue. It's the only bad move I think I've seen her make so far.

sh*t, I'd vote for her just for the student debt removal, which I think is easier said than done. But boy would that boost the economy if even a certain good percentage amount was forgiven. sh*t is stifling our growth and having less jobs for college educated people who graduate into debt is a huge fu*king problem.

IMO, Warren knows "Yes, your taxes will go up, but your costs will come down" will become a GOP soundbite, but you'll only hear "yes, your taxes will go up" in every campaign ad from now til Nov 2020.

It's only a "thing" because it's the primaries, and politics are dirty. Everyone on that stage knows costs will come down. They all know it, but they're using her not saying the line as an attack point.

It's retarded.

Exactly, which is why she has to say it. It's pointless to omit it until 2020 if it's her vs Trump. Everything else that she's saying makes sense to ordinary Americans and she's good at articulating points succinctly and clearly. Personally, I like buttigeig's (sp?) plan more which is the option to keep your private or do the medicaid. For younger folks who are paying insurance but who aren't a health risk, telling us that we'll pay more in taxes for the greater good ain't appealing. I'd much rather the choice. Outside of that, most of her plans are rock solid and actually achievable. Taxing billionaires 2 cents on every dollar part 50 mil, is a no brainer (or should be to most Americans)...getting rid of some or all of student debt is gonna get u the young college-educated people vote...she'll have the woman vote...she's running a great ticket. And given last election, I doubt people will care if she gets branded a 'socialist'...2016 showed people are fed the fu*k up of the normal politics and any deviation from the same ol' is a win these days.

yup, which it's why it's [always] best to be totally honest up front. Both political sides are going to spin sh*t and take sound-bites out of context to further their talking point, but when you're on that debate stage, that's when most americans will tune in to hear what you're about (most people don't pay attention on the daily, just like sports...every 4 years is the playoffs/world cup for them sadly...but I digress). So she gotta start owning that and fully explain her 'plan for that' when/if she debates Trump. She has been so clear on other things, that not addressing it makes me feel like there are some holes in her current plan that she's trying to sort out or have accepted the flaw. Either way, I'm a person who likes to be informed so I can make my own judgments.

"In the 1950s and 1960s, when the economy was booming, the wealthiest Americans paid a top income tax rate of 91%"

Conservatives:

I don't understand why it is so hard for people to acknowledge that the ultra wealthy, regardless if they claim R or D, is going to do everything in their power to benefit from tax loop holes to pay as minimal taxes as they can.

Just because there was a 91% tax rate in the 50s and 60s doesn't mean the wealthy elite were paying it.

There is a common misconception that high-income Americans are not paying much in taxes compared to what they used to. Proponents of this view often point to the 1950s, when the top federal income tax rate was 91 percent for most of the decade.[1] However, despite these high marginal rates, the top 1 percent of taxpayers in the 1950s only paid about 42 percent of their income in taxes. As a result, the tax burden on high-income households today is only slightly lower than what these households faced in the 1950s.

Warren's plan of taxing $0.02 for every dollar earned after $50M means nothing if you aren't closing the tax loopholes first

Her coming out and saying that would be too easy a soundbite to give. Better to get elected first and have time to show how overall it would benefit everyone. And I would probably see my taxes rise too.

Dems really need the House and Senate so legislation doesn't get watered down to the point of complete ineffectiveness.

I hear u on the second point, but re: the first, what's the point of running as an uber progressive if all you're doing is playing politics? Why isn't Bernie afraid of being honest?... "better to get elected first" is the same type of stuff Bush did and why they used "read my lips, no new taxes" against him/the republicans in the primaries 2 years after he got elected. It looks worse after u get elected because u look like a liar and it sets the party back. Be upfront...people like the dude in the interview, and most Americans, prefer people to be candid. She can't rail against the machine/game and simultaneously use their joyschtick...

I agree and hope she does tell the unvarnished truth. If people continue to vote against their own best interests, America and society as a whole deserves everything coming to it imo.
