SAS been a boot licker, but the thing that strikes me about all this is that China didn’t just start being repressive. This is always who they’ve been. I know a person can be misinformed or uniformed and then an issue strikes a chord and they feel compelled to speak up, but as far as I know Daryl Morey hasn’t publicly been involved in any political discourse and then he ups and decides that this is the issue to speak out about? And on the eve of the NBA’s trip to China? What’s been happening in Hong Kong specifically has been happening for a minute now, and I’m wondering has he been vocal the entire time? Seems like he’s a political operative of somebody because the NBA and specifically the Rockets have been in bed with China too long for him to not have known that all of this was going to come down the pipe.

So weak that it made China cancel the NBA .

Clearly the tweet was on point, if it wasnt China wouldnt react this way.

China tries to control the narrative at home, Daryl knew what he was doing.

According to Morey, he has close friends from Hong Kong and the tweet was in supporting them in their protests. Most people don't really follow what’s going on in the world until it affects them or someone they know. I’m sure most people know about the Hong Kong protests but I wouldn’t doubt a lot of people don’t know exactly why they are protesting.

Still though, you’re right. Everyone knows that China has always been a country with human rights issues. But the NBA has been content turning a blind eye since they were making money. The Morey tweet was a wake up call to the NBA of exactly who they were in business with and that they could not pretend to care about social issues while working with a country that goes against that very thing.

Yea Morey's rich friend... This is the problem people you dont even know what the fu*k is going on and neither does Morey. The CIA is just propping this non sense story up and they always do it for their elite rich fu*ks. China treats its poor better than the US.

China isnt a communist country dumbass. The US kicks Chinese companies out of the states stop being a hypocrite.

If Daryl knew what he was doing he would had more words in the tweet. That was the part Stephen said that i agree with. If you going to stick you neck out have some substance in the tweet. Thats why he removed, apologized. If Daryl knew what he was doing he wouldn't have removed it.

Ok, didn’t know that part. Thank you for that information. I never begrudge anyone the opportunity evolve politically. I remember Ira Newbel trying to get Bron to sign a petition in support of the people of Sudan and Bron saying he had to have his agent look at it first, and now look at Bron. And in Morey’s case if you want your words to make the most impact I guess you do it when the league you work for is about to put on a showcase.

But I think the NBA isn’t pretending to care about social issues. It’s a league where it’s players are more empowered and so the league follows their lead. On its own devices I doubt if the league would have any real involvement in the issues that they do now. And it being a player’s league, the players don’t care about anything but getting the bag in China, but they care a whole lot about institutional racism and police violence because it impacts them and people they know. That’s not pretending to care about social issues. That’s prioritizing the social issues that matter most to your players who run the league.

Y'all can't be this naive... This entire country including each one of you n*ggas does business with China... I guarantee half the sh*t in your house is from China or a country affiliated with China

This isn't a wake up call... You n*ggas already know how China is... But our entire country and every other country continues to doing business with them...

Why?

Because we can't be hypocrites...

Every country has some type of major social injustices at the heart of it's country... In doing business with each other we choose not to air out each other's injustices publicly in our countries... The US clearly still has a race issue that oppresses and discriminates against people of color... We still have a police issue that targets, attacks and k*lls people of color unfairly...

But China isn't having representatives who have the public ear in their country call us out for our social injustices... So we can't turn around and do it to them...

It isn't about turning a blind eye... It's about not throwing stones while living in a glass house... We can't call other countries out when our country has it's own social issues as well...

Is what China does to it's ppl bad... Yes... Is it worst than what we do in our country to ppl of color? Yeah it probably is...

But how does it look for the rapist to call out the murderer for k*lling people?

Just because we see their social injustices as worse than ours... doesn't give us the right to call them out on their sh*t while turning a blind eye to our own sh*t...

Yes i do think hes that dumb/ignorant. This " stand with Honk Kong" doesn't mean anything especially when he is safe in America while people in Hong Kong are been hurt in the streets. Its one of tweets that say "hey look at me im helping" Nah you didn't do sh*t....Then as you put it his Bosses made him walk it back. Which means he didn't have the courage to stand with Hong Kong. He wanted to play activists on Twitter while eating avocado toast at the breakfast table.

How does it not mean anything? It shows he supports what they are protesting for. I also stand with HK. Are u claiming u have to go protest in person in order to support the movement

And u are clueless. If it wasnt for the international communities support, China woudve Tiannmen squared them months ago.....

This sh*t happens in the US remember the Standing Rock protest people where being murdered by officers. We should worry about America which is doing the things we are complaining about China doing.

The US violates free speech all the fu*kin time... We poison our people through our water systems.

Are u kidding me?

1. China definitetly calls out American injustices (when it benefits them to do so).

2. You are saying because America does fu*ked up things we cant call out fu*ked up things in other countries? Why cant we call out both???

It isn't about turning a blind eye... It's about not throwing stones while living in a glass house... We can't call other countries out when our country has it's own social issues as well...
Of course we can...

This is the dumbest sh*t ever. Especially in a global world. By your logic, America should of said nothing about Hitler/holocaust because of our issues with race...

We are a globally connected world and should try to f*ght injustice everywhere , not just when it directly effects us.

China is using their policies to control other nations, u may want to be blind to it but eventually that sh*t will start affecting u at home.
