The Rise And Fall Of The Headphone Jack

CNBC
Published on Aug 28, 2019

The headphone jack has a long legacy in the audio world. So when Apple decided to exclude it from the iPhone 7, consumers were up in arms. In the years since, Samsung has been a champion for those who still wanted the headphone jack Samsung even went so far as to run a headphone jack commercial mocking Apple. But with the release of the Galaxy Note 10, it too has forgotten the decades-old technology. Did Samsung prove Apple right by k*lling the headphone jack?

the audio quality you get via connecting with a traditional headphone jack is plain and simply superior to bluetooth. Dont @ me

until the day comes when bluetooth audio quality is superior to a traditional 3.5 headphone jack, ima need that headphone jack mane

dont fall into the hype guys

the whole "no headphone jack" thing, is just a way to sell you adapters, bluetooth headphones and extra accessories

companies make a lot of money via those things

I swap between wired and beats. I like wired because no battery and less basically no drain on my phone battery. Plus both are guaranteed to be in one pocket/area.

Still like the option of an headphone jack regardless, especially if you want to use over-ear headphones or studio headphones.

I do. U like the concept of no wire head phones just to feel trendy. I'm a avid listener of music and I like music quality at its highest. I like to hear instruments on rap records I never heard before on low quality sh*t. Also I dnt want cancer so I'll stick to my headphone jack.

When Iím traveling, my corded Bose headphone jack was always getting caught on something then popping out. Your own hands or clothing is usually the culprit. Annoying as f. I switched to Bluetooth setup now and never missed that damn cord.

I’ll keep my headphone jacks and continue to buy the earliest models of iPhone that can function enough.

I don’t want cancer or radiation going through my brain.

Itís not about being trendy. Címon man you canít really believe that. Even when Iím warming up shooting around before a game, itís so much nicer to not have a cord to that pops out if it catches or have to keep the phone in my pocket while Iím shooting. Some shorts have no pockets so you have to wear a hoodie or something to put it in that pocket. Thereís a far superior utility to wireless headphones.

One of the biggest misfortunes to happen in the tech industry! No other audio/sound method beats the standard 3.5mm audio jack. Period! Its the most convenient and has the best sound. People will promote bluetooth, etc. But pound for pound, bluetooth is inferior. It's spotty. Lets not act like interference doesn't exists. Nothing beats a direct wired audio jack connection. Its just like when they sway people into believing sealed in batteries are better. When in reality its a ploy to keep people from replacing their own batteries and avoiding service charges lol. Tons of phone issues can be fixed with a battery pull and/or battery replacement. Instead of simply addressing the battery(because the battery is locked in the phone), they end up getting pressed to buy a new phone smh. Its a moneys game!

I've been wireless for over a decade. Bluetooth has gotten a lot better and wireless carplay has good quality as well. Wires just get in the way.

With quick charge headphones and the fact that phones can even tell you the battery level of your headphones. a low battery shouldn't catch you off guard.

I wonder how much are companies are saving by removing the jack. That's the main reason for the removal. Screw those water resistance or bluetooth reasons.
