Pulls are very basic Olympic lifts and confused as upright rows by people that dont know what they are looking at. They are safe and great for shoulders.

Pulls and high pulls use hip and legs to drive the weight up and you use your back muscles to keep the bar close and pull to the body.... Your arms stay loose and are virtually only hooks. You use your back muscles to transfer the force and do the work at the top. Your arms are only used a bit at the top to of the movement to control the momentum. Also at the top your heels are off the ground and ankles extended.

They are just power cleans and Olympic snatches without the catch (the most technical part of O-lifts)

Might try it

I just do 500 clapping pushups 250 pull-ups for my upper body I been neglecting the pull-ups tho because of boxing

I wanna be able to do the muscle up tho if I can do 250 of those I’ll be more swole than this guy guaranteed

Still I might try this one day

Damn , I miss doin pullups , fu*ked my wrist up f*ghtin at boat show , I can do bench press and curls but that one motion still makes my wrist feel like its tased

You can REALLY fu*k up your shoulders with this movement.

Mechanically, there is no point to this and there are better ways to build strength in those areas.

Itís not they are bad but I heard Alex ariza say pull ups arenít really functional for boxing

Thatís why I always just did a lot of clapping pushups box jumps tuck jumps squat jumps running and sprinting for conditioning instead

Take note of this Op. The end of the movement is like an upright row and that particular exercise is notoriously bad cuz it causes internal rotation of the shoulder/impingement of the shoulder. It may not hurt u right away but over time u can really fu*k up your rotator cuffs doing this with bigger weights. I'd opt for an alternative to this like a barbell/tbar row if u wanna build a big upper back

Muscles up are ok but have nothing to do with f*ghting shape esp since there is a bit of skill involved its not just pure str, at least to hit those super clean ones.
