Understanding the Rolex Submariner

There is a great video about the sea-dweller as well but most people are familiar with the submariner so I went with this one

Omega watches are quality watches.... but they still a few stacks....

Personally, Iíll settle for a few Tissot pieces..... they only a few hundred but they retain their value better than other cheaper brands

I f*ck with Hamiltons. Bought this brand new in 2013 for about 6. Now, brand new ones are in the 8s. It's a nice quality Swiss watch with sweeping second hand.

Also, there is this watch maker out of Detroit called Shinola that I'm about to start f*ckin with.

Actually that was good advice he received. Most will not appreciate in value. Only certain models will and those are few and far between. They will usually hold value pretty well, though after the first depreciation hit. So, a $12k Rolex might depreciate to around $8k, but will usually not dip much below that if itís in decent condition.

I have both a sea dweller and sub. I prefer the sea because of the case size.

If you don’t want to spend a ton and still want a quality watch that will hold its value and looks similar...

Shinola...All the way.

They make a great diver’s watch that’s sort of similar in look and feel.

My SD has a "T" serial from 1996. Increased 20%+ in value since I've bought it. I love the thickness of the case.

This watch is a tank. My dad was a professional diver and him and his buddies bought these not for fashion statements but they needed a reliable watch that can handle a beating. He bought his almost 40 years ago and it's still ticking to this day.

Yeah, man. It could be a weapon...

It was the first Rolex I fell in love with. My first nice watch was a Super Avenger and those both have those weapons grade cases. I donít know I love the weight of it. The only watch I think ďfeelsĒ better on the arm is an 18k Skydweller with the gold bracelet. I posted mine on here while back. That watch just makes you feel some type of way. Not even the DD2 feels as nice.

Actually, Day Dates keep value. The stainless sports models hold value somewhat, but they still are not a good investment unless you happen to get lucky and buy the rare one that appreciates. I doubt that most of the models types that you mentioned can even sell for MSRP after they are worn. Maybe 20-30 years down the line they might be worth MSRP or more (if they are special). To suggest that any stainless sports model is “money in the bank” is incorrect. I have a 2010 stainless and gold GMT Master II. MSRP was about $12k. It’s probably worth about $7-8k now and will hold steady like that for the foreseeable future. It’s not going to just shoot up in value unless it somehow becomes a collectible model. And yes, I do understand that typically the stainless models have a higher chance to become the collectibles than the two-tone models. It really just matters on the exact dial and configuration. People start to see one as more favorable than the others over time.

Yeah... but the caveat is if youíre looking to get a Rolex, you canít buy a Tudor and act like itís the same. I know that itís the same parent company and I believe some share the same movements, but if youíre looking for a Rolex, buy a Rolex. Donít buy a Tudor and start trying to floss it, because it just doesnít have the same cache. You buy a Tudor because you like the design and quality of Rolex, but canít afford a Rolex.

Correct Rolex owns Tudor. Cheaper movement but as of last year Tudor has a few watches with in-house movements. Build quality bus top notch and on par with Rolex. I have own Ed Tudor in the oass and I still own vintage Rolex 1665. Can't go wrong with a Tudor if you want to send 2500 to 5,000 on something used or new
