2019 Peach Jam Takeaways: Is Bronny James worth the hype?

The circus that surrounded Bronny James, the oldest son of NBA legend LeBron James, during his time at the Peach Jam was unlike anything that I’ve ever seen for a player his age.

He was the biggest draw at an event where the gyms are always at capacity while fans – and some media members – are constantly turned away at the door so as to avoid fire code violations. His first game reached capacity a good 40 minutes before tip-off. That was at 2 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon, before coaches were allowed in the gyms and when the public at-large was in the middle of their work day

Bronny was the third-best guard on his team and it wasn’t all that close. Dior Johnson might be the best guard in the Class of 2022, and Skyy Clark isn’t all that far behind. Bronny, was more or less relegated to playing a 3-and-D role on his team. And he did that well, but at 6-foot-1, that’s only going to get him so far in basketball.

Now, remember, his dad is 6-foot-8. He’s probably got some growing left to do, and it’s hard to imagine that he won’t continue to improve as a player. So he’s got a chance.

image Lebron is GOAT, but his son just ain't going to be on his level. Might even end up like Jordan's sons and not make the league

I thought it was just the youtube highlights that made him look like a SUPER average mostly a spot up shooter with shakey handles, and decent defense. That is actually how he plays though. If He doesn't grow to be at least around Lebron height, he probably ain't making league

His second son is the truth though

are you high casual?

Lonzo was a number 2 draft pick, and is a generational talent, who would of made ALL NBA DEFENSE in only his second season, almost average a triple double in his first season

Lamelo Ball is about to play in one the BEST basketball leagues on the planet in Australia, then after he is touted to be a lottery pick in the NBA

Gelo ball, had a set back with ankle surgery, but before the surgery he had an invite to G league.

Lavar Ball KNOWS talent, he successfully trained THREE professional basketball players

This is dumb. Those kids are older than him. He's class of 2023. He's playing up and still developing/growing.

He hasn't even stepped foot into high school yet.

He's playing high school next season.

Dude is just average to below average compared to other talent around his same age, anyone who understands basketball can see that.

He isn't a natural basketball player, rather he probably feels he "needed" to play basketball.

Lebron's second son is a natural basketball player, which is why he is 100x better than Lebron's first son at the same age

Exactly. Bronny is class of 2023.

He's playing against kids with varsity experience while probably not even being registered for high school yet

christ dude. I hate the dad and his kids style of play but 2 out of 3 are definitely made for the NBA just stop. 2 out of 3 were better than Bron Jr. when they were 15

He doesn't have any guard skills that he can use effectively against real competition besides shooting spot up jumpshots.

He is forced to become a undersized spot up shooter

Going into highschool, which he starts this coming season he should be dominating at his position by now to some level of degree

Here is Lamelo Ball at age 13, a year YOUNGER than Lebron James son, but playing against highschool competition.

THAT is REAL talent and a natural basketball player, he was DOMINATING against ALL competition.

I agree he isnt anything special right now but he has time to improve. A lot of players his age are better than him and people can talk that he played up sh*t all they want but the other kids were only a year ahead of him not 3 or 4. Juanny Wagner kid been playing up for year and he looks like a future pro at the same age basically

All his highlights just look like a normal kid playing on any other team, but that is expected he is way to young to have his game judged seriously. Give it to at least 11th grade before you judge.
