A new report says that Chevrolet is k*lling the Camaro, but not just yet.

The sports car is midway through its life cycle and won’t be replaced when it ends in 2023, according to musclecarsandtrucks.com.

Company sources tell the website that development on its successor has been suspended and that the model name will go on hiatus then, as it did from 2003 to 2009.

A GM spokesman released a statement to Motor1.com that said it wouldn’t "engage in speculation."

The Camaro came in a distant third in the muscle car sales race last year behind the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, with less than 51,000 sold in the U.S., and received an emergency cosmetic redesign for 2020 after the 2019 update was poorly received.

The muscle car market was not a fan of the all-black grille on the 2019 Camaro, so Chevy updated it for 2020.

The coupe and convertible line debuted for the 1967 model year and was continuously produced until 2002. It returned in 2010 to great success thanks in part to its role as Bumblebee in the "Transformers" movie franchise.

Ford has no plans to abandon the Mustang nameplate and is working on a hybrid version that will be introduced in the coming years. Meanwhile, the current Dodge Challenger is expected to be replaced with an all-new model after 2021.

Chevrolet is going full speed ahead in the sports car arena, however, and will be introducing the first mid-engine Corvette next year.

it's too safe. The reason Dodge is doing well with their challenger is because its crazy and has personality. It's totally impractical and has insane horsepower for no reason. Nobody needs a 797 HP wide body street car. But people love it because it exists anyway. You buy it for the obnoxiousness. Chevy nor Ford can compete with it.

True. The Dodge is special it scared me to push it. Like really scared me that sh*t locks you in and fu*king destroys. Only other car that scared me was a supped Toyota Supra the real ones the one Brian drove in f&f sh*t is insane lol.

They should have made the Camaro a damn V6 manual pure sport vehicle. A 4 cylinder economical but sporty Civic esque Nova and a big body karate V8 Caprice to drag.

Not when you drive it. I have a 2012 and it's fu*kin impossible to see out of. Somehow they made the 2016 even worse. I was gonna buy one but I test drove it and I couldn't see sh*t.

Honestly everything after 2013 is a disappointment in some way. The 2016 was better than the 2013-2015 and it's better than the current model, but it was still way too euro looking and soft looking. It's not a muscle car.

They made it way too ugly for people to want. If they fixed they exterior and bettered the interior it would be gold. The chassis and motors are excellent and the performance numbers for the ZL1 will best Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and almost every other sports car brand. My thinking is that it was offering near Corvette performance for less while offering more space and a better ride and hurting the Corvette brand.

They have a V6 model with a 1LE track package with a sports suspension, better brakes, sticky rubber, and more cooling. But why just a V6 when the ZL1 1LE puts most super cars to shame.

The Hellcat is a small segment of what they sell though. The hellcat is 60-70gs+ brand new. The demon is 80gs. The average person can't spend that on a car. Most of the Dodges you see on the street are sxt, r/t, scat packs. But Dodge has been great at creating a model for everyone.

The apex sports car, a 911, has been and until they name it something else always will be a 6 cylinder. Lighter and balanced.

A pure track machine with a V6 or flat 6 is just more nimble with plenty torque imo. For the oval I get it but If they wanted to chase hp could have built a caprice and ate Dodges lunch at the drag with mildly boosted V8s.

Not necessarily. Chevy's pushrod motors are very light and compact even compared with a V6. People put small block B8's in 911's. I even had a Miata with an LS3 and it fir perfectly. The cats are only heavy because of the chassis. It currently rides on the alpha platform which is shared with the ATS and CTS. It would be much lighter if it used the omega platform.

And it looks like a car for pussies. I think Porche makes some of the softest looking cars on earth. I will never own one ever.




Fully respect Porsche performance, but those aren't muscle cars. If you buy American Muscle, you DO NOT buy a V6.
