Stephen A Smith on athletes complaining about the way they're treated: "Just stop. You get paid to ball. It is no crime for somebody to want to see you perform. And you got people that bring up such extreme measures, the "slave mentality." Shut the hell up. It's an insult to our ancestors."

No but the concepts behind plantation slavery has graduated to professional sports where they going into the deepest cracks of the Earth to find healthy, athletic black men to get under contract & exploit.

Itís a deeper issue than ďslaveryĒ. Itís a fundamental issue among MY people that encourages us to be exploited by non-black men as the only ways to ďmake itĒ. KD has been encouraged since he was a child to make it to the league, get under an exploitive binding contract with non-black owners & Agents to make his money to one day earn his ďfreedomĒ. If he was being encouraged as a child to one day be an owner and make decisions that can put him in that lane heíd never have to worry about getting exploited, blowing his Achilles out, and 20,000 people celebrating his misery.

Exactly. SAS right. Everything about the comparison of n*ggas getting paid mulit-millions to ball to people who had their humanity LITERALLY stripped away from them, and were forced to endure sub-human working and living conditions is insulting.

Piss poor analogy made by stupid people, and race hustlers only.

There are other types of historically exploitative labor practices that would make a lot more sense to compare on analogize. But I get it. The term slavery is the most "incendiary" and therefore will rile up the most stupid people.

Itís not slavery.

But youíre naive to think that big business of slave labor that built this country is not the grandfather of what weíre seeing in professional sports among other issues.

Dogs are warm, loyal, cuddly beings doesnít mean they didnít come from the same species that spawned wolves.

When you can leave whenever you want, ITS NOT CLOSE to slavery.

Once again, there are other forms of historically exploitative labor that this can be compared to. The slavery comparison is literally made because it's a majority black league. That's it.

Thatís real sh*t right there

Itís not slavery at all for the simple fact that no one is making these guys play ball. You can quit today and take your guaranteed money and do whatever you want with it.

I donít understand where this whole slave mentality came from. Yeah youíre playing for a white owner, but these top players can hold franchises hostage and have leverage and basically demand whatever they want

The comparison is made because Football & Basketball (college & pro) are the only aspects of American life where black men are aggressively sought AND valued. The only other thing that comes close is the prison system. So we got to be aware of whatís going on here.

You canít quit today and keep your guaranteed money tho. Ask guys like Ricky Williams and Calvin Johnson who did quit with years left on their contracts and not only forfeited the GUARANTEED money they were due but had to pay previous guarantees back.

Iím going off track but none of these guys are quitting because they have 0 concept of how to be businessmen instead of being the business. Theyíve been exploited their entire lives so this ainít nothing new. Thereís a reason the smartest business savvy NBA players get into ownership. Everybody else they are nobodies with no value until basketball success gives them an identity, then the rest of their life revolves around making money off that identity.
