This might be new math.

But 7/$90 is about $13 Million per year.

The Reebok check was $10 Million.

I think he just made a smart business decision.

"Rebook"

Anyway, he knew what was up. Nike had/has unlimited funds and a crated modern sports marketing. Was a no-brainer.

Well at the time when they offered the 10 milly, he had not negotiated with Nike. Remember the condition of the 10 mill was that he didn't speak to anyone else. That alone let's you know that they may be trying to low-ball you or get you cheaper. Like Master P said when he worked on his deal, "If they were offering me this deal, I knew I was worth more."

You think Nike was not going to speak to the most hyped basketball prospect of the last 30 years? It’s not like Reebok discovered him & he was unknown to other brands like a Giannis.

LeBron has a client named Darius Bazley with a $1 million dollar endorsement deal from New Balance. They identified him early, signed him, and he skipped college due to it. In a situation like that being picked out the crowd then it’s smart to take the first deal because it’s no guarantee you’re on anybody else’s radar.

I wish they would've released some prototype pictures of some of the designs they wanted to use for Bron's shoes. Could've been some hypothetical heat.

Reebok's deal was for 120 or something....and 10 upfront on the spot

He said no

Nike gave him 90 at first with no upfront check

Reebok gave him more money total and money upfront but he said no because he believed Nike would pay more long term

He was right

He would’ve got the money either way. Nike was the bigger name that’s why he picked them. This wasn’t some genius decision

$120 over 7?

$120 over 10 a worse deal than $90 over 7 if youíre capable of getting a second deal.

He use to pass them Reeboks out on the block too.
If it wasn't Nike it would of been Adidas but World Wide Wes sealed the deal.

I forget.....but even though LeBron had all the hype....no one knew where he would be 7 years down the road or if he would get a second deal

Reebok gave him the 10 million on the spot thinking he would take it and run

Come on man we all knew LeBron was gonna be up there.

Everybody had that belief except Ricky Davis & Darius Miles.

True, but dont forget about maybe the second most hyped nba prospect of the past 20 years....What did Andrew Wiggins get on his first shoe deal? I think he got something like 2m a year. Sure Nike is going to go after the top guys, but its not usually with a big contract like Lebron.

While thats an awesome deal to get before you even get to the NBA, that deal might of ended Bazleys nba career. With that he skipped college, went to the G League, left the G League and now is "PROJECTED" to go undrafted just a year later. If im a GM, im personally taking a flyer on his upside (Weltman and Hammand...you guys better be on this guy!) in the 2nd round, but its crazy what happened to this kid after the shoe deal
