Yeah sure.. we witnessed the end of tanking if we ignore the fact that New Orleans shut down their healthy superstar at the All Star break, and came out with the number one pick

I think it might be if 2 teams that won 30 plus games end up with the 1st and 2nd pick

That wasn’t necessary cause of tanking it was because they need to trade him and didn’t want him to get injured ... I like the new draft rules, the three teams that were outright tanking all year didn’t get the #1 pick

You really think the league lets lotto balls dictate it's future? They gave NO that pick to save basketball in that city. If you gotta "save" basketball in a city you shouldn't be in the city. And you dam sure can't let the next big star end up there.

It backfired because the worst teams aren’t getting the best players available at the top. I understand it’s a lottery but maybe reshape the chances a little more. A straight cut from 25% to 14% was a little drastic

They shut down AD for both reasons. It's not either or. They shut him down to protect the a*set, and to tank. And it worked for them.

So the idea that this is the end of tanking is a joke.

Even with worse odds, the best way to get high draft picks is to lose. The people that work in NBA front offices these days aren't people that are gonna be swayed by anecdotal evidence. The numbers just are the numbers, and if a team can go from a 4% chance to an 8% chance, by losing some games they have no reason to win anyway, they're still gonna do that.

Also, even if this sh*t made going for LAST place less desirable (which again.. is doubtful), this incentivizes tanking out of the playoffs even MORE, because now, the difference between an 8 seed and a 10 seed is REALLY attractive in favor of the 10.

So like we saw the Clippers push for 8 this year.. THAT'S something we may not see anymore, since teams have a reasonable enough shot to land a high lottery pick just by barely missing the playoffs.

There are still plenty of reasons for teams to lose on purpose. The teams at the bottom will stay there. They tend to not have much choice anyway.. and now the teams in the middle have even MORE incentive to blow games down the stretch. I'm not convinced this is better for any of us.

Legitimately bad teams being punished because teams like the Knicks and Sixers made a mockery of the lottery system

New system is exciting, but it ain’t the answer innocent bystanders getting caught in the crossfire of fu*kery

All it means is that if you're at or near the bottom of the division and ain't gonna do nothing in the post season you might as well bomb out and still get just a good of a shot at a top 5 pick as the worst teams.

It doesn't end tanking, it just reduces the reward of it. Teams will still tank.

He wanted to be traded and literally left a couple of games before it was over. How many superstars sat due to load management?

The 76's tanked for a half a decade and even branded the sh*t The Process.

The knicks just been a*s cheeks for half a decade , one was planned the other wasn't, don't compare us.

Knicks have sucked due to talent for years, they are hardly the poster for tanking

Knicks only legitimately tanked this year. Way more teams have tanked year in and out.

Suns been tanking for like a decade.

Mavs owner admits to tanking.

Sixers hid behind a 'trust the process' slogan to tank for like 5+ years.

Hawks same as the Mavs.

And Cavs have tanked every LeBron-less year since 2000.

But y'all love to hate NY for some reason and like to hop on bandwagons to sh*ttalk so do you.

only after AD demanded a trade.

they went into the season trying to win games.

nah those teams are now being punished. what the 76ers did embarrassed the league and was dishonest towards a paying fanbase.

suns literally trotted out G league point guards all season trying to tank, the knicks benched all their vets both were punished.

Agreed. Those teams are being punished, but the fact still remains that the worse your record is, the higher your odds are of getting the first pick. So there is still value to tank, just not as much as before (hence why I said it reduces the reward).
