Anticipation is high for Bandana, the second collaborative album between Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, and the former only raised it by announcing some of the expected guests. In an interview with the German magazine JUICE translated by Reddit user DeBeCooper, Gibbs said that Pusha-T, Yasiin Bey, killer Mike, and Anderson .Paak.
Gibbs and Madlib’s first collaborative album, 2014’s Pińata was also star-studded, featuring appearances from Mac Miller, Danny Brown, Earl Sweatshirt, and many more.
Per the Reddit translation, Gibbs said that Pusha and Mike were guesting on the same song, called all the people appearing on Bandana “legends,” and said some artists are too intimidated to rap on a track with him.
“In the beginning I did not want to have any features on the album at all, but that it eventually happened is a blessing. The song with Pusha T and killer Mike is my favorite one – and Pusha did not have to do me the favor,” he said. “I think there are a lot of MCs who are scared to get on the same song as me. Look at the [XXL] Freshman Cover that I appeared on – except for Jay Rock I did not work with any of those guys.”
Both killer Mike and Madlib and Gibbs appeared in the 2013 Adult Swim single series ) with the songs “City” and “36” Chain," respectively. In an October 2018 tweet, Gibbs listed Pusha among his favorite rappers making music right now.
