Report: Seahawks suspect Wilson wants to play elsewhere. NY Giants preferred destination?

The Seattle Seahawks sense Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson wants to play for another team, a league source told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.

Seattle also believes Wilson's unspoken desire to move on has led him to take a harder stance during contract negotiations, according to Florio.

Wilson, who's spent his entire career in Seattle, previously gave the Seahawks an April 15 deadline to complete an extension.

Rumors throughout the offseason have linked Wilson to the New York Giants. No credible reports have substantiated that speculation, though Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu seems to believe Wilson does indeed have his sights set on the Big Apple.

Wilson has one year left on his current deal with Seattle but the team could use the franchise tag to keep him off the open market once it expires.

The 30-year-old pivot has earned six Pro Bowl selections in seven years with the Seahawks and led the club to a championship in Super Bowl XLVIII. Seattle has made the playoffs in all but one season since selecting Wilson out of Wisconsin in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Wilson threw for 3,448 yards with 35 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season.

I think the death of Paul Allen and the uncertainty of who the owner will be, like will his sister sell or not, might be a factor with him wanting to stay in Seattle. But that's just my a*sumption and could be completely wrong.

a team that wants Russ will end up crippling itself after giving up 3 1st round picks to get him then they will also have to pay Russ what he's asking for which will cripple the cap space on that team... Teams who are paying HUGE money for their QBs are not the ones winning titles right now, Brady helps out the Pats cause he takes a lower salary. Brady wants to WIN and knows what it takes, these other QBs just want to get paid... If Seattle keeps Russ then i hope they have an amazing plan to build around him but if they trade him im really not gonna be too worried

there was never any worry whatsoever within the franchise that the team was going to be sold, its never been a concern for fans here either.

Brady is also at the end of his career and has over 15 years of great paying contracts and endorsement deals where sacrificing some dollars for a few more years of worthwhile football is fine for him. Asking a player in his 20s and early 30s to take less for team success is ridiculous especially since it has no correlation with winning bc the Pats are such a unique situation.

He a celebrity athlete. He's in a celebrity relationship. I bet that's a MAJOR factor in him wanting to play in a place like nyc. Seattle is no man's land in comparison to nyc. In nyc he can ball n he n ciara can capitalize off of their celebrity-life/relationship in ways they can't in a place like Seattle.

im not against a guy getting paid, i just dont want the Seahakws to have their cap space jacked by 2 players (Clark, Russ) when Jarran Reed might be looking at a big payday too if he keeps up what he started last season. Is it possible to still put together a good team?? yes totally, good coaching and smart moves in FA/draft can provide the talent around the big names to get the job done but as we've seen lately its not leading to titles and thats the ultimate goal. Russ can make up any difference in money with endorsements easily, but since he's young u gotta take the money still and i totally expect that. Im just not sure i want that kind of contract on the Seahawks eating up all that space. Russ is an INCREDIBLE player but man thats a lot of money. Russ is gonna want to be the highest paid QB in the NFL, the following season there will be QBs who will want even more than Russ... Its a whole lot for these teams to navigate. QBs dont grow on trees, so of course im somewhat hesitant of trading Russ but i do trust Carroll and Schneider to do whats right for the squad so whatever choice they make will be what they feel will help the team win into the future.
