Samsung Galaxy S10 Fingerprint Scanner Hacked - Here's What You Need To Know

The phone for pesants need help!

image

One of the big new feature announcements with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone was the all new 'in-display' fingerprint scanner for the S10 and S10+ models. It wasn't just the convenience of having the scanner built into the screen that was being pushed by Samsung, but the additional security offered by the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor rather than a traditional optical reader. This was, we were a*sured, capable of creating an intricate 3D map of your fingerprint which meant only you, and you alone, could unlock your phone. Now it appears that Samsung has just been proven wrong as a security researcher demonstrated how he fooled the fingerprint scanner with a 3D-printed copy.

So you need to make an exact copy of a finger on some Mission:Impossible type sh*t that would then technically "unlock" any phone, is called a hack now? Cutting the person's finger off is gonna be the alternative hack if you can't afford to purchase the make believe commercial 3D printer needed in the original "hack" hahaha People get lazier and lazier with the reaches. This must be a late April Fool's

Only an idiot would give their fingerprint to samsung. Just like the idiots who give their DNA to those ancestry companies. Just know their doing experiments with your genetic code.

I mean damn. A pass code isn't good enough? What you got in your phone?
you know ronnie stores and sells your bx information, usage and posts to third parties. you should delete your account.

Government already have all your genetic code. If they wanted to do experiments, they can. You pee in a cup for your annual preventative physical and the clinic sends it to lab corps, same goes for your blood. Lap corp could sell the data off that too.

The government already have your fingerprints if you ever been arrested and hold a passport. Every time you fly out the country, you have to give your prints and a facial picture at the check in kiosk's when your return from your trip....

Yeah, this is the same types of articles you see around the "hacking" scene when it comes to exploits and sh*t. Some twerp performs a PoC exploit (proof of concept) just to say well "it can be done" when in reality it's not logical or ever going to happen.

But these days I see why the twerp's spend some time, as bug bounties are a big deal these days. Even if some sh*t is not overly practical in real life.

I don't fuk with bio-metric technology at all. And you can hack this without 3d printing a damn finger. Fingerprint data is just encrypted data like any other piece of personal data, and once you can decrypt it, you can recreate it at your leisure. Anyone dumb enough to send their fingerprints to a cloud doesn't deserve any privacy.

Your fingerprint isn't stored in the cloud. It's stored locally in an encrypted storage unit that's completely separate from the normal storage on the phone.

Hackers are using telepaths and mindreaders to read your mind to find your unlock code and pin to unlock your phone.
