Jay Z is headlining Woodstock 50th Anniversary....

Does this mean new Album from the Greatest Of All Time? will he be shaving that mop on his head?


(AllHipHop News) It appears major rap stars will help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival. Variety reports Hip Hop legend Jay-Z and Grammy-winning emcee Chance The Rapper are joining Dead & Co. and Black Keys as headliners.

“We are thrilled with all the excitement about Woodstock 50, but we have an obligation to our fans, artists, and partners, to do things the right way,” said original Woodstock co-creator Michael Lang in a statement.


Lang continued, “We are in the final stages of laying the groundwork and can’t wait to stage this once-in-a-lifetime event. We’ll be officially announcing the lineup and ticket on-sale soon, stay tuned!”


The first Woodstock took place August 15 through August 17 in 1969. The historic fest featured sets by iconic musicians such as Joan Baez, Santana, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix, and others.


Twenty years ago, the infamous Woodstock '99 made headlines for musical performances by acts like DMX, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Limp Bizkit as well as for the violence, fires, and alleged s3xual assaults that happened during the Rome, New York-set event. There were also Woodstock concerts held in 1994 and 2009.

Woodstock 50 is scheduled for August 16-18 at Watkins Glen International Speedway in Upstate New York. Run the jewels, Janelle Monáe, Gary Clark Jr., Halsey, and Miley Cyrus are also expected to be part of the lineup.
